There are Subpoenas on Mayor Gimenez and Chair Rebeca Sosa to Reveal Their Conversation. By Geniusofdespair

It appears the PBA got a hearing officer from the Public Employees Relations Commission to make Rebeca Sosa and Mayor Gimenez testify on a conversation they had regarding a collective bargaining impasse during a commission meeting. The County fought the PBA on this but lost out.

The games never stop. You know darn well they were discussing their plans for the holidays. It was more interesting than the activity in front of them. Who needs constituent input when you are strong mayor?

Police unions own the city. Voters should be asking to dissolve the police department. I'm surprised the police would do this at a time that the New York mayor is also being threatened by his own employees. Talk about police being out of control.

Don't get too excited. Because it has been established that no one except Sosa and Gimenez heard their conversation, they could say they were discussing the Dolphins or the weather. No one can say any different. They could even say, "I don't recall," and the matter would be over.

The rules for public proceedings need to be respected by everyone, including the Mayor and Chairwoman. They are not above the law. When there is a quasi-judicial hearing being conducted, there should not be any side-bar communications between either party and the commissioners, who are sitting as judges considering a case. The unions and the administration are equal parties before the county commission when there is a labor impasse hearing.

If the Mayor wants to lie about the substance of the conversation, expect the level of trust in his failed administration to continue to plummet. I am sure the Chairwoman will speak the truth.
