No Wonder Rick Scott Won. By Geniusofdespair

Miami Dade County had the worst voter turnout in the State's 68 counties. Our turnout was 40.74% with Hendry County not far behind. Broward County didn't do much better with 44.47%. Monroe County had 56.63%. Who can we blame for the Scott win (4 years of agony and bad judge appointments that will go beyond 4 years)? Ourselves: Miami Dade County. Scott won by 1%.

Go back to two of my blogs this week. read them this time. The email blog and the deposition blog. I will not tolerate readers who won't read the important stuff. You already have enough fluff in your brain. There is so much meat in these two blog you will become catatonic if you are a vegetarian.

Answer: The Miami Dade Democrats, starting with Annette Taddao, pathetic. I am know officially an Independent. They had no ground game, vision and were not remotely in touch with the people. They offered little support to the State Rep candidates focusing on Crist instead. Even Garcia got hung out to dry, which was a major loss.

The big problem is that the people in charge know nothing about getting the vote out, and won't listen to the people who do. For Democrats get-out-the-vote is a major field operation and should have enormous resources dedicated to it. In a state-wide campaign, you need to hire experienced field generals, tens of thousands of street and neighborhood operatives, foot canvassing teams for door-to-door election day operations, fleets of vans and buses to get voters to the polls, and extensive radio time and coverage. To put all your money into TV ads, when people don't even watch TV with advertising any more now that they have cable, is inviting disaster.

We live in a time when everyone knows everything. People get positions based on friends, family and relatives, not based on education, training, experience, knowledge, and expertise. Fact is, they do not know, that they do not know. And so we suffer another four years, and prepare for the hurt and suffering of the people to come under Scott's reign of terror.

I am resigning from the state.

They wasted time sending out begging emails. Sometimes I would get 20 a day. It got so bad that I just started deleting them on site. What did they do with the money? It seems like a scam, some kind of con game. Get a lot of money, give it to consultants and TV stations, and do nothing else to win.

The rampant government corruption at all levels of Miami Dade government discouraged voters from participating in the election process. It's another price we pay for corruption and unethical and self-serving behavior. Everywhere you turn you see governance not in the private interest but for special interests and lobbyists delivering the cash. Just take a stroll through your blog about all kinds of decisions and how officials spend our money- on stadiums for sports moguls, on money losing enterprises like SkyriseMiami and MiamiWilds theme park, while schools, health are, transit, public parks, public libraries go begging. Voters protestors by dropping out. Shame on everybody.

What does it even mean to govern in the Public interest?

Don't forget to blame lifelong Democrat Maurice Ferre who openly campaigned for Scott and even appeared in a Scott commercial pushing the Republican agenda. Coming from a lifelong Democrat such as Ferre this should be viewed as a major betrayal since he heavily influenced the Hispanic vote- especially the Puerto Rican vote in the Orlando area and that may have been the difference. The Democrat Party ought to remove his membership card.

You mean to tell me that Ferre did that? Why would he do that?

Here's Maurice Ferre's take on the Scott- Crist race.

Don't need a link. The dems didn't support Ferre when he ran for Senate. Ferre ditched them dems.

The Democratic get-out-the-vote effort should have been so strong that it should not have mattered what Ferre or anyone else did or didn't do.

Cubans are going to get Marco Rubio on the ticket as running mate By Any Means Necessary.

Ferre got paid off like everyone in Miami. No integrity. It's a shame after a lifetime of a political career. Ferre's support of Scott served to suppress the vote. A tried and true tactic of GOP. They also ran ads in the black community not urging votes for Scott but calling Crist a racist. It's how they roll.

Whatever goes down, always remember Miami-Dade County did not vote for Rick Scott. 60% of the voters did not show up, but of the people who did vote, they rejected Scott.

Marc Sarnoff took money from Democrats, when he needed their money and support in 2006 and 2007. Then Sarnoff, in 2014, endorsed Rick Scott and hobnobbed with big time Republicans at a Rick Scott fundraiser. Ouch.

" I don't support Marco Rubio but tell me what is wrong with "Cubans" supporting someone with their own cultural background for a political position?"

Because Republicans like Rubio claim to despise "identity politics".

You know, like "black" people voting for Obama just because he's "black". How often have we hear that complaint from Republicans?

This is hilarious. Are you guys forgetting who the Democrats were running against Scott? None other than "For a good time, call" Charlie Crist, for Pete's sake!

@ Ref. above anon.,
The problem with Cuban politics in this country is institutionalized discrimination as a result of Cuban Adjustment Act (wet feet dry feet policy) essentially laying a red carpet down for one group of immigrants, politicizing the process rather than looking at the problem from a rational perspective. The policy has essentially become the biggest stick in partisan electoral politics when it is an international problem. In conclusion Cuban Adjustment Act must be repealed entirely as an integral part of the current immigration reform debate.

Judges are supposed to be apolitical. Should a Cuban vote for a candidate for Judge if that candidate had a IQ of 91 and a mail order degree over a highly qualified candidate just because the low IQ candidate was Cuban? Shouldn't everyone vote for the best qualified candidates?

According to some of the posts here only Cubans vote for their own kind. Please, give it a break, the same rules that apply to Cubans apply to every other ethnicity. In every ethnic group you will find myopic people with prejudices and lack of concern for issues who will vote for candidates who share their own heritage or cultural background.

The same could be said of the Anglo-Saxon, the Jew or the Afro-American who votes for the lower IQ candidate simply because of their ethnic background. We have a serious problem in our country. This liberty of ours that affords us a democracy and a great homeland is being put to the test by the apathy of voters who care little about our elected officials and issues. It cuts across every ethnic group, regardless of social class or profession.

I guess the bashing of Cuban Amricans is an accepted form of dialogue on this blog since every attempt at discourse to disprove a myth about Cuban voters is moderated and not approved by the blog author. Wonder how many comments would be accepted if they for one second presented the Jewish community or African American communities in a bad light.
