County Commission Oral Reports with no background are unacceptable for Countywide Projects. By Geniusofdespair

Monday November 10th Meeting: I am behind (mainly because I don't give a shit anymore) and just noticed this. Ask the Mayor for some written information on these two item I mentioned below:

A Horse Museum in Tropical Park? Isn't this where there they want to move the youth fair after FIU took over part of Tamiami Park? What else are we going to put in parks, the kitchen sink? Do you want some details about this museum in the park? Here is what you get from the County:

There is no text currently available online for this item.

Okay, we all know Javier Souto is on his way out mentally at least, but he cannot be giving all "Oral" reports. First of all no one listens to him. Second of all, we need documentation on these things he is putting on the agenda for his Committee, so we know if we should show up at the County for his Committee meetings. This is the Agenda. If you hit on the hot number, you get the line of text in bold above.

Oral reports are unacceptable with no text available. Mr. Mayor, and County Chair Sosa, scrutinize these items especially  142445 and 142446 as they effect the entire county.  I don't mind a status report being Oral but we need substantial background information on the two I made reference to. GOB money for a Horse Museum and Long Range Planning for Regional Parks for the next 10 years, my God, why don't you just open up the old Hoover and have the meeting in there. Both items passed with 3 votes in Committee. GOB money (OUR MONEY) for a horse museum. Why don't we just throw the money in the toilet. I want a dog museum. Let's just fill the Park with Condos and student housing -- and of course stores and restaurants to serve the Condos -- and be done with it. I don't live near there, what do I care. No outrage near the parks being seized by development?

FIU is taking over Tamiami Park, there was a suggestion of moving the Tamiami Youth Fair to Tropical park but that's "under study" as they say.

Why did so many people give their blessing to FIU taking over the park? No one explained the implications to them except a glossy mailer. We need a parks oversight board for the County before they are all gone. Mayor Gimenez please propose one and put Greg Bush on it. He cares about parks. All parks.

There's too much crap at Tropical Park as it is. It looks like a cheap carnival/trailer park/strip center. Full of ugly chain link fences and old crappy 1950's shelters painted institutional drab. Enough already. Plant trees and preserve open green space. You county cretins!

We have been told already by Eddy Gonzalez that politicians will say anything. Putting it bluntly they will lie. Oral arguments are unacceptable. County elected officials the county has gone to a hell in a hand basket while the infrastructure is in poor condition. Focus on quality of life for all of us. Remember if your children and grandchildren plan on remaining in Miami Dade County they will need good roads, quality of water, to live here.

Carlos Gimenez acts like a man who hates parks and a super majority of the 13 commissioners act the same way.

Parks are not piggybanks for well-connected lobbyists and their clients to landgrab. We need an investigation into the County Parks Department to see what is really going on in a comprehensive way. BTW - same thing happening in the City of Miami with the Miami Marine Stadium - today's Miami Herald story about the private development group (calling themselves a nonprofit) about to launch a commercial development bomb on the Miami Marine Stadium basin lands. Not surprised it's being touted as an emergency that the City absolutely need to sign off on right away - so no one has time to look into the details of this public land giveaway.

It is the Oral Way.

We employ 25,000 people and none of them can write decent written progress reports on major projects? I guess we have to pay some consultants to actually ask everyone what they are doing and write it up.

What a sham. Government is done in the closets. I really do want the house cleaned by the Feds.
