Mayor Gimenez to become an independent? By Geniusofdespair
Non-partisan mayor Gimenez may become an independent. He said because he is an independent thinker. He had better tell that to all the Republican lobbyists he has been cozy with and taking advice from for the past few years. They might not know he is an independent thinker. His cozy relationship with T Party favorite Lynda Bell certainly contradicted his independence from Republican values.

Does this mean he believes in climate change now and that it's man-made and that we can do something about renewable energy and conservation even if China and Indua aren't leading the way?
Will he be doing a fundraiser for Charlie Crist now?
Guess what, us real "independent thinkers" don't want him.
Independents don't shovel tax payer money to their family/friends while running up so much debt service (while complaining about the deficit - duh) pushing the can down the road until he's out of office.

Mayor Gimenez told me that he hasn't read a book in years. He did his best to destroy the library system. Call him a zebra, he's still a rat.
Who advised him to change? This is strategy for 2016 that indicates that the Dem majority and union pressures are worrisome to an incumbent.
No friend of libraries. His actions were direct rom the far, far right-wing playbook. They were so far right that many Republicans were taken aback by his anti-library obsession. He's just saying this to avoid a Daniella-like political backlash in the next election. He ran as a middle-of-the-road technocrat to win against Robaina, but governed from the far right. He's repositioning himself yet again as a centrist, but his ideology remains the same.
This is the USA where people get second chances. Unfortunately for This Mayor, I hold a mile wide grudge
for the pain he's caused to so many. There's no amount of money he can raise which can change the votes of my family, my friends, my colleagues, my neighbors. His unreasonable actions shall beget a strategic response.
Independent? Judging by how he hands contracts to a selected few friends I prefer to call him corrupt.
There's also an "independent" voter/blogger who posts Allen West and Marco Rubio quotes every day.
As if.
Perhaps the Mayor is evolving. Could be this is the first step in a long journey. In life, doors and windows open and close. When they open, they only stay open for a specific time period, then they close and are never opened again. But, new doors and windows open and the process repeats itself. He sees a new door, he might walk in.

Gimenez is a liberal but he can't become a Democrat because the Democratic Party is a dead party.

With the Republican-created government shut down, a host of Republican generated legislative cliffs, their fight against ACA, their desire to privatize social security, their efforts to get rid of Medicare, their wars against almost every sector of the U. S. population, and their failure to do the work they are paid to do to keep the country going, it could be generations before they see the White House in the role of the Presidency. Given a thoughtful reflective President like Obama, we will never go back to knee-jerk, emotional, self-serving dummies or crazy people as our leader of the free world.
Xavier Suarez will be the next Mayor of Miami-Dade county.

1. “Government shut down” – Ummmm … that was Obama and Harry Reid’s fault. They love Obamacare funding so much they shut down the government over it.
