In this morning's Herald it said:
The morning of the court hearing, Jorge Luis Lopez, the County Hall
lobbyist and lawyer leading the courthouse campaign, posted a message to
both Regalados on his Twitter account that read: “Plenty of blame to go around; public records will soon reveal. Miami politics as usual, SAD!”
Here is Jorge Luis Lopez's lobbyist report. Where does it say he is a county hall lobbyist and a courthouse lobbyist? Is he paid by the county? Also, he lobbies our Good Mayor on just about everything. Doug Hanks of the Herald just contacted me. He says he is not a "County" employed lobbyist but I say, he might as well be.
Jorge we all know the courthouse is in disrepair. That is a given. It is the County's obligation to keep up with it's infrastructure. You don't leave it till it is in such a bad state. It is the County's fault so why should we pay EXTRA TAXES to fix it? The bond stinks Raquel Regalado is right and it is the County's fault.
Lopez shouldn't have such access to the Mayor given all these clients and the mayor should actually be one of them don't you think:

This is what's wrong with Miami-Dade County.
The notion that Lopez is not profiting from this self-appointed role is laughable. Who is placing the ads and getting a commission? Who is fundraising and taking a percentage? Which donors /contractors (MCM) have been promised the construction contracts? Who owns the land where the future courthouse will be built? This entire effort is so sleaze-ball. It is a shame that the Chief Judge has been duped to loan her name to this errant "civic" enterprise. Disgusted in South Miami.
One of the salespeople for this scam is named Beatrice Butchko. Very pushy. She refuses to let voters see any plans. She refuses to share any budget info. In a moment of weakness she disclosed some of the groups who hope to profit off the bonds. She mentioned HOK Architects and the All Aboard Florida division of the FEC Railroad. The FEC RR is owned by a NYC hedge fund. Needless to say, this Butchko woman wants a corner office on a high floor in the new edifice and of course, thug Jorge Lopez is making money.
Yesterday Butchko told a fawning radio announcer the cost of the 600,000 sq ft new courthouse will be $616 PER SQ FT. Gulp. Taxpayers getting some serious screwing on this scheme.
You don't need a citation to tell you a building need repair. The people should have reported it to the county.
We all should realize what is going on here. I wrote before that it is no coincidence that the day ground was broken on the all aboard station across the street, the replacement of the courthouse became an imminent priority. Millions are to be made on the bond issue, the plans, the construction and site acquisition for the new courthouse. Additionally, the old site is worth tens of millions and the right to sell the pews, antique furniture, locks, doors, doorframes and all other manner of antique architectural items is staggering. JLo and his crew are masters of deception and deceit in my opinion. Teh attorneys who are promoting this are either in on it with clients are need to curry favor with the judge, or both. One attorney who raised millios to help restore the historic main courtroom just a few years ago sent out an e mail asking for support for a new building. As if he did not know years ago one might be needed, all while raising money for historic restoration. I call that nothing but being a judicial whore.
Whores are everywhere these days, in costume and trick or treating.
How did this get on the ballot. The county commissioners had to put there. Someone must have lobbied them.
The lawyers, judges (lawyers) and lobbyists are just liars. All of them. Voters will hopefully see through their lies and vote No.
If Jorge Luis Lopez is out spinning and scamming then the public knows to take the other side. Dude is the antichrist.
Shouldn't Jorge Luis Lopez be registering as a lobbyist for the courthouse trolls and shouldn't he be filing expense reports with the State of Florida?
This disgusts me.
The court house needed repair and and expansion for the past years. The slabs of stone was falling off the outside. But, all they needed to do was close off the road on the west side, build the addition between the old court house, running the building over the trains connecting with the old MAM and Library which could have been used to house the courthouse legal library that they didn't maintain.
When My husband passed away, I wanted to honor his love of the old courthouse--- however, I could not invest in anything of permanence to memorialize him because I knew the county was screwing around with the money.
What I did do is purchase some of the Miami Herald Collection of Courthouse photos with the gifts from his friends and will turn them over to a historical society when all this non-sense stops.
$393 Million. That is the face value of the bond the schemers are trying to deceive voters into approving. The schemers latest direct mail pieces do not even mention the $393 Mil and that it will cost the taxpayers $900 Mil to pay back. Where will the money go? "The usual suspects". Ick.
Jorge Luis Lopez better be filing expense reports with Elections Officials. Is he registering properly for all his clients?
