Joe Centorino, Ethics Czar: Pretty much always "Let Them Go Joe". By Geniusofdespair

Stephen Shelley's wife worked for Steve Shiver at one time.  He put her in his will without her knowledge and now was trying to negate Shelley's vote against the project based on the will he produced last minute  -- bad government at its best. Why was this left out of your opinion so the public would know there was a form of extortion going on?

Joe once in a while, you could advise on the side of caution, never huh? What is wrong with... "it might be technically legal but it looks like shit because X Y Z". That is why you are known as "Let Them Go Joe." You also could look at the personalities involved. This is ethics not Rundle's office. It is a lower threshold.

I call him 'go by the book Joe.'

We need to partner with the universities and get an ethics code that makes sense. MAJOR OVER-HAUL NEEDED. Daniella Levine Cava's sister in law in involved in Ethics at the University of Miami. The County ethics department stinks to the high heavens the way it is designed. All it does is offer cover for bad behavior...i.e. "it's okay he is my brother not my son." Please let's address this, this year with our new Commissioner who ran on ethics. Let's get a better code we all can believe in. The secret discussions at the ethics meetings don't help. I was glad to talk to Councilman Shelley to hear what is really going on. And that really stinks. Because I know the two men involved, I think a new ethics complaint should be filed with the intent part of the equation.

Come on Joe, you are in someone's will. That is a conflict.

Everyone is inbred in government in Homestead.

Query this: why would Shiver who had two teenage children at the time of the Will leave anything to his secretary? What was she doing or had she done to merit taking money away from his children?? She knows where the bodies are buried.

There is probably a job waiting for Joe at Weiss Serota.

What Lilly Mae said! Can this one get a barf tag? Whatever happened with Maggie Valley? I only wish North Carolina would have thrown Shiver in jail because he certainly has more teflon against prosecution than most politicians in Miami Dade and he's not even part of the Cuban coalition!

Only 10% or less of the registered voters ever turn out, this is why we have such bad council people, excessive electric rates and high taxes including the new bond money with little over sight but a lot of inside deal!

Wayne Rosen kicked Shiver to the curb during the housing bust. Shiver is now kicked out of his house and much like Bateman is said to be broke. So now he is hooking back up with Homestead's rich uncle Wayne Rosen.
Watch what happens now.

This Shiver intended to reward his Girl Friday for a reason. I would not guess it was for her typing or filing skills.

The Ethics Commission is a disaster outside of a few investigators.

The question is: why didn't Steve draft a new will?

Steve cost his dad millions in bad investments (the ghost town?).

Now, he is active in city politics and is recently rumored to have moved into a neighborhood to run for council.

The Ghost Town investment fell apart because of the real estate collapse and the shenanigans of an old woman who lied. I am a current employee of Ghost Town and Steve was the only one that stood up for what was right and he got left holding the bag because he trusted to many. The current Ghost Town owner is trying tell sell it back to Shiver now so I only hope he comes back. And Shiver's money was his and his family. So believe me they all hurt. Get a life.

Steve Shiver please go back to Appalachia they long for and need your fairy tales like the one above. It hasn't been the same around the old campfire since you left.

"The current Ghost Town owner is trying tell sell it back to Shiver"

We could have an EOM fund raiser to buy Shivers one way ticket(s) back to you in North Carolina!

It's comical when Steve Shiver writes in the third person about himself.

Centorino got his nickname "Let'em go Joe" when he headed the inept anti-corruption section for Kathy Fernandez-Rundle's office. He has always had a reputation as a guy who is afraid to confront corrupt powerful people.

And let's hope Levine Cava is the real deal. I am troubled by her cozy relationship with the PBA so I am not expecting much.

When Centorino kept Michael Murawski as the no. 2 guy at the ethics commission, I knew that he was not committed to good ethics.

Murawski is the guy who launched a vindictive inquisition on his fellow ethics commission staffers at the behest of ex-Director Robert Meyers after a complaint was made to the mayor about Meyers' alleged inappropriate behavior with his assistant. Anyone with integrity would have resigned before engaging in that witch hunt.

I thought his nickname was "Sleeping Joe"
