Dade County Police Benevolent Association and IAFF Local 1403 Endorsed Cava. By Geniusofdespair

"I am proud to know that the first responders who go above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis, support my efforts to keep our streets safe and strong. I admire the dedication of law enforcement and firefighters that work to keep South Florida a great place to live. With their dedication in mind, I will put forward the same effort in ensuring those services stay strong. As your county commissioner, with the help of law enforcement and our fire departments, I will work to assure that we can all live in safe and secure communities.” - Daniella Levine Cava

Daniella Levine Cava has the endorsements of the Dade County Police Benevolent Association (PBA) and the Metro-Dade Firefighters IAFF Local 1403. This is going to be a great help to her campaign. These is the first major endorsements besides Eye on Miami.  Mayor Gimenez will push even harder for Lynda Bell. Maybe a bit too hard for his guaranteed vote on just about everything. Is she in his pocket for the soccer stadium?

“The choice for fresh leadership in this race was clear. Ms. Levine Cava will be a breath of fresh air bringing a real voice to residents in District 8. She has a desire to solve problems and is committed to providing a safe community for everyone,” said PBA President John Rivera. The Dade County PBA represents more than 6,500 law enforcement officers.

“On behalf of fighters IAFF Local 1403, representing over 2,000 Firefighters, we are pleased to endorse Daniella Levine Cava. Daniella Levine Cava is a supporter of Public Service and has a strong desire to act in the best interest of the community. It's time to support a Commissioner in District 8 who is ready to improve the quality of service and act in the best interest of the Community,” said Al Cruz, President of the IAFF Local 1403."

You should never vote for any person who is endorsed by unions.

You should never vote for someone endorsed by the The Christian Family Coalition, a gay hate group, like Lynda Bell.

There is no question that Dniella Levine Carva is the candidate to lead District 8 to greatness on the County commission.

Her endorsements, whether union or otherwise serve to demonstrate to District 8 voters that she is liked and supported by a wide variety of organizations and people of both political parties.

Daniella is one of the few candidates running for any office this election cycle who is overwhelmingly qualified for the seat she seeks. Liking unions or not should not be the issue here. Just because you don't like them so what?

That she is supported by unions and non-unions is what matters. Don't use you "dislike" of unions as an excuse to dismiss her candidacy. That is foolish on your part and a silly attempt to smear her.

For me, I don't care if the man in the moon endorses her...she is the only candidate that can bring District 8 to greatness instead of playing to self-serving special interests whose only role is to play to Lynda Bell because she serves their purposes and as has been well demonstrated, can be easily bought.

Daniella is a gift to the people of District 8 and her solid background of service to Miami-Dade County in general and District 8 in particular demonstrates that for the first time in decades we have the opportunity to put someone of substance on the BCC who has proven she will make a difference.

Onward to Victory Daniella! You are loved and supported by the majority of the District 8 voters and with God's help you will be successful.

Those damn unions! That's right. OH, wait, I am a member of one of them. I am also a voter in District-8. The county is giving subsidies and tax breaks to professional sports organizations while demanding more concessions from the unions. Shame on those unions for being upset about that. Not to mention the recent news piece that says the county has been using the same money which is being given to these sports franchises to pay for some county services. So, are subsidies being given to millionaires that could otherwise be used to help pay for county services? Despite the growth in South Dade, there has been no real increase in services to the district. The commissioner's answer is to hold the line on raising revenue to meet the demands of it; as opposed to making sure that new growth doesn't mean a sacrifice in service to the existing population. I hate that because I am a member of a union, what I have to say or endorse means nothing. Actually, my job allows me to see the best and worst of the district and in my opinion from what I have seen it hasn't gotten better in the past four years.

The PBA Mafia is on board, I expect the rest of the unions to follow along. I like Lynda more and more.

Bad endorsement!

Great endorsement. Now PBA support groups need to be given their assignments and integrated into election day, early voting, and absentee voting operations.

I can't believe that some people are so knee-jerk anti-union that they would even think about voting for Ma Bell just because the unions support Cava. What are you thinking? Oh - right - who cares about a 40 hour work week, fair wages and protection against political cronyism. Let's vote for a slime bag (even if it is pink slime) instead of an honest, smart and independent woman who will look at issues fairly - no matter who endorses her.

So why did Commissioner Bell vote no on the Heat deal? She made sense. Thank you to Commissioner Moss for his no vote too.

That was some mighty fine BS by the Heat lobbyist and Mayor's bearded BFF. Cha-Ching! Heat wins BEFORE the finals.

I thought the two no votes came from Suarez and Bell. Not Moss.

I don't think it is a bad endorsement. Regardless of how you feel about unions, many voters are in support of their police officers, firefighters and paramedics. Truth be told. Cutbacks in public safety budgets has led to an increase in crime and emergency response times. Most don't think about it until they find their home has been burglarized or they suffer a heart attack and collapse in front of their family.

Didn't you already post this. It's old news. Old story. Refried beans.

More and more community groups of all sorts are endorsing Daniella, and for very good reasons. She is an honest woman who cares deeply about the community. She is not a career politician like Bell. In fact, for years she resisted calls from various community leaders to enter politics. Finally, she was convinced that she could make a difference in this arena fighting for the values she has always fought for and embodied.

The two NO votes were Xavier Suarez and Lynda Bell.

The reason this is a bad endorsement is because she will now be in their pocket. We go back to the Carlos Alvarez era.

Anon Above:

Don't judge people the way you judge yourself. Just because you would be in somebody's pocket because they supported you at the polls does not mean Daniella will. She is too honest for that.

So climb on Bell's back and leave us good folks to put into office the only person in District 8 who will make a difference.

Have you forgotten about Sweetwater and Bell's undying support for the convicted mayor? Bell quietly changed the law in Homestead when she was mayor to take away business from a local Homestead businessman and give it to a dirty mayor. How dirtier can an elected official get?

Go Daniella...District 8 voters love and support you. We are working hard to get you there and look forward to joining you on election night, the first night of a healthy new dawn at the BCC.

Adios Bell...has a nice ring to it.

Just what we need ... another commissioner in the pocket of the corrupt unions. The PBA is the worst!
