Lynda Bell and Her Role with Anti-Choice Group. By Geniusofdespair

A Blast From The Past!

I am not so troubled that District 8 County Commissioner Lynda Bell has been an officer in the Florida Right to Life for many years - now their National Delegate. You believe what you believe, as long as it does not interfere with your public service. Only 3 things trouble me about her affiliation with this kind of group -- she can't keep it out of her commitment to the public. Everything she does has a personal motive: Like naming that affordable housing after her mom...for no particular reason except that she is her mom. Were there no deserving people in the community that worked hard for Cutler Bay or District 8 that deserved to be so honored?

1. After she lost an election in Homestead and had extra money, rather than give it to a needy group in the city where she collected the money, she gave money from her campaign account to this Almonte Springs group. Most politicians give locally - there is so much need locally. The money to that group should have come from her own pocket not her campaign account. It shows her unwillingness to think of the community - instead it is always herself first.

2. Lynda Bell is regularly endorsed by the Christian Family Coalition (a Gay hate group). Here is one of her speeches there. Her Antics with this group caused Save Dade to say: "Time and again Commissioner Bell has taken the side of bigotry and discrimination," SAVE Dade Deputy Director Maria Barth said in a news release after commission co-sponsors dropped a proposed addition to the county’s gay-rights ordinance. "Lynda Bell’s outdated and anti-family views are completely out of step with her district. Her bigoted positions have no place in our county government."

3. Most disturbing of all, I found this on the Florida Right to Life website when she was president of the group:
Any candidate who says abortion should be kept legal disqualifies his/herself from public service.
If this is true, then I believe that any candidate that believes abortion shouldn't be legal (especially since it is the law that it is legal)  disqualifies his/herself from public service. Which, of course, would disqualify her from public service. You can't have it only ONE way.

Linda Bell is one scary piece of work.

Her private life is ALWAYS a part of her public decisions. That is her biggest flaw.

Thank goodness there are still a few candidates who defend the sanctity of life.

Yes Daniella Levine Cava does.

As we all do. I am against the death penalty.

G. O. D: I am so happy to read that you do.
We must all defend the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. No one has the right to stop a beating heart. Thank you.

Then if Daniella Levine Cava is Pro-Life, I will change my mind and vote for her.

Your definition does not necessarily match my definition. Why are you so eager to insert yours into mine? Pro life is just that, in favor of life and who isn't? You can believe the rest of your details -- your definition to your hearts content. It is not mine. You don't own the meaning of words like prolife. I would call you anti-abortion. I think that is much more accurate. And I suppose you are also anti-suicide in your definition.

local money should stay here. I did not realize that Lynda gave away my donation to that group. it will not happen again. I am not going to give to her.
