When You See Stuff Like This On the Miami Dade County Agenda, Maybe You Should Worry. By Geniusofdespair

This is clearly a suspect downgrade in land use oversight and regulation. A "Jack Osterholdt Special." It had a first reading April 8th. I hope our readers who are Land Use Mavens will comment because I am not one of them. But messing with DRI's always worries me especially when they cover unincorporated Dade County (Other side of UDB).

One page of document, full document below. I like that they crossed out "The development would serve a public benefit." Personally, I think some of the changes suck.

I need comments on this one as I am not knowledgeable.

Hmmm - understand your suspicion but I will have to check it out. The current process leaves much to be desired so I understand a desire to change it. But -- don't exactly know what the new process will do. Will ask around and thanks for the head's up,

I am suspicious of everything Jack Osterholt touches.

Hey Genius - you should ask Mark Woerner, Director of the Planning Department... (sidebar - well, he used to be the Director when there was a planning department, but now its all part of RER (a Mayor creation in his bogus reorg) and who knows what Mark's title actually is). Anyway, my point is, Planning professionals like Mark be able to tell you what this change actually means and if it is good or bad.

As it is, it is hard to tell, which makes it suspect.

I think this is how it works.

1. You have a Committee (the DIC).
2. The Dics (we sometimes call them DICtaters) will have no power. They will meet regularly, shuffle some papers and them approve everything.

Got it? Good. Though so. If anyone has extra copies of the CDMP, I could use a few to line the bottom of my canary cage.

Gimenez and Osterholt are pandering to more of Gimenez's "friends and family"?
