I blame the Democrats and of Course Marco Rubio For the Thomas-Gayles Maneuver. By Geniusofdespair

Darrin P. Gayles - Florida Circuit Court Judge - Soon to be US District Judge

Judge William Thomas
Marco Rubio pulled his support of Judge William Thomas in August or September - he wouldn't blue slip him (approve him). Thomas is not only black but also gay. Rubio sullied Thomas's reputation with some bizarre arguments that lawyers and other judges dismissed as trumped up. Instead of the Democrats fighting for Thomas they chose  - what I call the bobble-head solution - treating people like bobble-heads, where heads are just treated as interchangeable.  The Obama administration found another gay, black judge, thus forcing Rubio to support him. Rubio couldn't possibly reject two gay, black judges. It was smart of the Democrats but not without consequences.

Are judges that interchangeable?  Who suffers? Of course, William Thomas and maybe our judicial system. Thomas said he was once Judge William Thomas now he is known as the Gay, Black Judge William Thomas. He said his privacy and his life was changed dramatically by the incident.  I think Frederica Wilson should have stood by her man and given him more support instead of capitulating to the Democratic maneuver.  But the Democratic trick worked against a stubborn Marco Rubio, and all is done -- the Dems got their gay, black judge however they left William Thomas in the rubble.

This is another example of how the system eliminates some of the best candidates for no good reasons.

What you fail to understand is that huge numbers of people do not support homosexuality.

Marco Rubio's decision had nothing to do with homosexuality. If it had he would not be supporting another candidate who is gay. He is nothing but a hypocritical twerp.

President Obama needs to nominate more regular judges who have a good chance of being approved. It is not good that we continue to have all these vacancies on the bench.

Rubio position to my understanding had more to do with the Judges reaction to sentencing of the Orlando murders who raped and killed the young girl from Miami. You remember, they also stabbed and beat her boyfriend leaving him for dead of the turnpike??

The judge cried and got emotional when he had to sentence some of the scum bags to death.

I love it when democrats get all bent out of shape when things don’t go their way.

Here is my understanding putting anyone to death should be an emotional experience we are not robots, well maybe you are.
As Fred Grimm said in the Miami Herald, "Rubio Stomps on judges reputation" besides killing his nomination to the federal judiciary. Grimm said:
Ovalle, who knows everything about that courthouse, insisted that Thomas is regarded as one of the hardest-working, most competent judges in the Miami-Dade criminal court division.

But all this is to pretend that Rubio had some reason other than crass Tea Party politics for sabotaging Judge Thomas’ reputation and aborting the confirmation process.

Just to let you know there is a huge number of people that support homosexuality. you must be over 65 because younger people don't judge.

The majority of people support homosexuality as an alternative. One in 10 is homosexual.

As a Cuban American and former law enforcement officer, I had the privilege to bring cases in front of Judge Thomas. I found him to be a true professional and a welcome sight on the bench. The fact the man is gay has no bearing on his qualification and for Senator Rubio to slight this honorable man is just vindictive and cowardly.

Are all the Black judges homosexuals?

I don't know? Are all my readers stupid?

I don't know if all your readers are stupid, but I do know a smart judge on the bench is a threat to corrupt lawyers or those who are inept legal advisors. A smart judge makes people do the right thing. Smart and well schooled attorneys love smart judges who know law.

Judge Thomas is not only a welcome sight on the bench, he is everything that is right in a judicial role today. Gay or not Gay he is a gentleman who stands for what is right. Sexual orientation has not had a detrimental effect on his opinions or rulings. If there were more Judges like Judge Thomas on the bench today the world would be a better place. As far as Rubio is concerned: SHAME ON YOU!

Having practiced in front of them both, Thomas' intellect as a jurist is far superior to that of Gayles'. It's quite shameful that local politics and back room shenanigans have torpedoed the more qualified nominee and left us with a mediocre replacement.

I like Judge Gayles. He is a fair judge and a nice guy too and he is going to be a good addition to the Federal Bench.
