The County Commission District 8 Race Between Cava/Bell: Election Date is August 26th. By Geniusofdespair

THE ELECTION IS NOT IN NOVEMBER. If you wait till November you will have missed the election for the Daniella Levine Cava-Lynda Bell race by a few months.

As stupid as it might seem, the election will be held when you are probably on vacation: August 26. So if you are going to vote for Daniella Levine Cava make sure you get an absentee ballot.  If you are voting for Lynda Bell, go on vacation and hope someone will send in an absentee ballot for you. It happens.

Anyway, this is a non-partisan election. The candidates are not running on any party but I think everyone that is following this race knows the party of the candidates. We aren't supposed to consider that Lynda Bell is a "Fiscal Conservative" (code she uses when she goes door to door).   Because it is non-partisan the PRIMARY DATE of AUGUST 26th is really the election date unless one candidate gets less than 51% of the vote. That can only happen with 3 candidates or more and that would mean there could be a run-off on November 4th. I doubt we will see a run-off on this one.  At this point consider the August 26th date set in stone.

Anyway, tell all your friends the election is August 26th for County Commissioners. Make sure they vote August 26th or are prepared with an Absentee Ballot if they are away on vacation. If they are on an extended vacation tell them to call elections: 305-499-8444 and make arrangements to have the ballot send to their vacation spot.  Did I repeat the date enough times?

Daniella is making the Democratic party event circuit. I don't know if being so out front with the party helps her in the District. It's pretty split leaning right since redistricting. Vote by mail because there could also be a Hurricane during this period too.

I agree with the getting out on front of the party scaring potential voters away. Daniella, how are you reaching out to folks who aren't dems? Will you be a spender on that board? . My quality of life is eroding and this is an expensive place to live. I feel that I have no voice as a middle class person and I'm not interested in being a stadium owner for instance. I'm not happy a out the Jackson hospital debauchles. My property taxies are too high. My county government is ineffective and bloated. Will you be pushing back or will you be piling on services for people who I will have to support along with all the others who have climbed upon my aching back. Please talk to the rest of us too because I hear you are an amazing lady with a good heart.

If another person jumps in the race it would be good for Cava. Force a runoff for November election. Her vs Bell during fov race.

Bell? a fiscal conservative? Give me a break. The first thing she did when elected was to get herself a fancy office - instead of using a free one provided in South Dade Government Center. It was good enough for her predecessor - what's up with that?

An august election favors incumbents in general. It's awful hard to get people to the polls in stifling heat or pouring rain or worse which all occur during this period of peak hurricane season. This will probably end up being a battle of the AB brokers. One Dem ended up in jail for them and a whole bunch others, Reps, skated on charges. I don't need a crystal ball for this one!

Cava? I thought her name was Levine, at least until this year.

Her legal name is Levine-cava.

Now is the time to have Candidate Forums throughout the cities & UMSA in District 8.

Let's hear the roar
we citizens of South Dade need to hear your policies.

Come on G.O.D. if we were in Cuba or some other Latin American country Levine-Cava might work but here in the USA its one or the other....unless of course your running for public office in a "demographically rich" environment and wish to cover all your bases.
Maybe Lynda can hyphenate her name Bell-Boba or something like that

I have different names for different circumstances. What she is doing is certainly not unusual for businesswomen and men, ask Albert Harum Alvarez who legally took his wife's name. Grasping at straws again? How many names has Linda/Lynda had?

Albert Harum Hernandez didn'r use Hernandez until he ran for office in a district with Mucho Hispanos.

American women keep and take their husbands name too. Go to New York. Hispanics don't rule the world.

Albert ALWAYS used Avarez...always

Cava will be the keynote speaker tommorow night Tuesday at the Democrats of South Dade Club meeting at the Unitarian Church at 7701 SW 76 ave at 8pm. Come out and support her!

They (Hispanics) don't rule the world but when someone needs their vote some folks quickly find a hyphen just like people suddenly remember a Jewish uncle when running on Miami Beach.
BTW I wouldn't vote for Lynda/Linda if she paid me a million dollars (well for a million I'd perhaps think about it)

Annie Betancourt is holding a fundraiser for Cava. That's the kiss of death.

G. O. D: So, now you are a proponent of Absentee Ballots? Him...Very interesting!

Ahhhh the banana begins to be peeled.,third candidate wanted!

Cava needs to meet more voters. Incumbents get so much free publicity.

Honey Boo-Boo-Bell.

Absentee ballots when you will be ABSENT. That is what they are for.
