South Miami: former mayor Horace Feliu alleged to be stealing signs of current mayor Philip Stoddard … by gimleteye

A South Miami resident filed a complaint alleging candidate and former mayor Horace Feliu -- a strong supporter of the FPL plan to put high voltage power lines through the city -- of stealing signs of incumbent mayor Philip Stoddard. Think of it! Voters who chose Stoddard over Feliu in the past are right to wonder what kind of conduct they could expect if he is elected to the city commission in next week's election.

This is a terrible report on Horace Felieu. I would never vote for him.

Horace needs to stay retired. Was is it about old electeds and their need for power. It's just as sickening to me as Rolle trying to get "his" commission seat back. What ever happened to a government by the people for the people? This guy is a true menace just as he was when he was Mayor.

Ripping down campaign signs in broad daylight in front of witnesses? He should be fined twice, once for campaign violations and once for stupidity.

BTW Rolle actually has a chance, turns out da hood like's their commissioner a little on the malleable side.. Word on the street the current office holder ain't spreading it around like the "mayor of the ghetto" used too.
and a side note, I always thought Rolle should call himself "governor of the ghetto, instead. it's just as oddly racist as his "mayor of the ghetto" moniker he drops into all his district speeches but I think a better alliteration.

Felieu is a dipshit if he doing this. Goes back to ego and feeling of entitlement.

It is criminal to this, the signs are private property and he is stealing.

Just imagine what he does with absentee ballots?

Was his appearance at the Fpl hearing when he was mayor honest? Did the south miami city council really send him to kiss Fpl butt or did lie?

Well at least the letter wasn't written with Crayon.

I have no problem with Stoddard. He was civil to me. I do have a problem with that uneducated loudmouth woman on the city council who bosses everyone around like a tyrant. I attended a meeting and i could not get over how rude she was. I will try to remember her name.

Of course he can behave that way, south Flahrida is THE Banana Republic incubator.

Jean Monestime is disappointing. Does he represent all his constituents or just Haitians?

I don't believe this. It is so childish it reads like a smear campaign.

And the lies keep coming.... I expected better from the eye but taking this questionable letter and posting it as a fact really stinks....Shame on You Alan I only hope that someone doesn't smear you without proof or corroboration one day.

Here's what I heard: Horace and two other people were out campaigning and parked their car in a friends driveway.Upon exiting the car,Horace walked across the street and started talking to a gentlemen who was in his garage. Horace chatted for about 10 minutes about the election and about the gentlemen's dune buggy.

At some point, Horace asked him about the Stoddard sign that was attached to the street sign.Horace pointed out the the sign was illegally placed on city property. The gentlemen said that it wasn't his and Horace asked if he could remove it. Which he did. Soon thereafter, the woman of the house objected to the removal and Horace suggested that if she wanted the sign, that it be moved off the public swale and placed on their own property. The women agreed and Horace carefully placed it on their own property and not on public property.

Next..Back to where Horace had parked his car(across the street from the dune buggy.) Horace and two others were invited in and spent more than five minutes inside his friends home and they were told by the homeowner that the Walter Harris sign that was on the side of their property line did not belong to them and that they wanted a Horace sign.

Horace then went to the side neighbor and asked if the Harris sign belonged to them, which they denied. At their request, Horace put up his sign and the Harris sign was removed and given to them.

And BTW, Horace's car did not have signs in it that belonged to Harris, Stoddard,or Obama nor Clinton or Christy

So there ya go..Another way to look at that event.

So now Horace Feliu thinks he is a code enforcement officer. How good of him to put up his own sign in place of both Stoddard and Harris. Beautifying the city! That would explain the many missing signs of candidates Stoddard, Harris, and Edmond. Any candidate who touches the sign of another candidate opens himself up to charges of malicious mischief. Sounds like the same cranky old Horace we endured for his 10 years in office.

I suspect that anon was referring to Valerie Newman. In her day job she works the register at the Relax The Back store. God help us all.

Don't knock code enforcement. It pays better than his current part time job teaching adjunct at an unaccredited for-profit nursing school. Why is this guy is so desperate to get back into office? Think what just happened to his pals Bateman, Pizzi & Maroño. Let's see if South Miami voters are suckers enough to do it again. Anyone taking bets?

Mr. Miller,

In the interest of full disclosure, why not tell the readers here that Horace is a former employee?

Interesting that the complainant you so enthusiastically trot onto your blog is the family member of one of Stoddard's employees. Spreading malicious lies eom

Where was the complaint filed? Has there been
any action on the complaint? Wouldn't removing
signs be an act of theft?
