Hope you enjoy the view, your going to see a lot of it as there is no way to get to the "near by points of interest" during rush hour. The bottleneck is the 3 small bridges over C-100/Snapper Creek east of useless 1. Typically it's an hour to cover the short 12 miles to downtown.

I THINK I know where this is -- the old FPL plant near Deering Bay, right?

Funny they called it Cutler Plantation, Palmetto Plantation has a better ring to it and more cache...and it is in Palmetto Bay. Yes I think you are right last anon.

Dade County would sell its last piece of soul and open land if would squeeze another dime out to benefit the developers. Do our elected officials and investors think that it is wrong to preserve things for the future?

Just for the record, the property across the street on the corner had civil war artifacts and Indian items on it. Someone needs to watch the grading and digging on the FPL property very closely.

It's unfortunate that FPL can't be persuaded to donate/sell this land, or a portion thereof, to the community for a park/nature preserve as Eugene Flinn has suggested in his blog post. The statement "near points of interest" that lists downtown, airport, etc... is quite humorous. As anon 1 said, unless you go at midnight, the drive north and south is brutal. Otherwise, it is a great "southern" location with numerous shops and services available to the west along US 1. The key is you need to/should work and send your kids to school in Palmetto Bay/Pinecrest. Also, a new bike path along the west side of 67 Av to connect to the existing bike path at Old Cutler and 67th should be made a condition or at least a priority with the development of this site.

I bet the Kings Bay folks are thrilled....moat anything is better than looking at that old smurf blue power plant. It was there 1st so they had to grin and bear it.

Palmetto Bay was a made-up name has no historical significance. Dr. William CUTLER and James Deering were both prominent figures in area at the turn-of-the-century wrestling control of the area back from Flagler, Richmond and the Perrine heirs' land grab

Fpl is a rogue corporation.

Need this waterfront land come sea level rise as a defense. Perhaps Sosa's Climate Change committee could recommend eminent domain acquisition.

Good bye mangroves, hello floods. This development is tragic.

Perhaps we can persuade FPL to donate a piece of it to a consortium that could include FIU, MDC, UM, Miami-Dade Schools, area private schools, etc. to provide them with access to the bay for a marine science and water sports center.
