Eye On Miami Milestone: Three million Page Views … by gimleteye

How old is Eye On Miami? When we started blogging, there wasn't even an Instagram. When we started blogging, Twitter was one year old.

In the grand scheme of the web, three million page views isn't a lot.

On the other hand, EOM readers demonstrate that civic journalism has a place and a purpose. G.O.D. and I run alongside traditional independent journalism and counter to mainstream journalism, at a time that pressures of the internet transformed journalism entirely. We are activists and advocates and try to explain why, "when you see something, say something".

We are curiously and alternately realists and idealists. We have experienced how government is captured by special interests. We participate yet criticize special interests -- including our own -- who suffer "Stockholm Syndrome", co-opted by dysfunctional democracy on the one hand and survivalists.

We are survivalists, too. Our conviction that democracy is not just a word but a way to organize society and the economy fairly and equitably requires the same patience, tolerance, and endurance that many of our readers experience. We can say the world is part horror and part wonder, go to sleep thrashing over which, and still wake up smiling. Courage!

3,000,000 and counting. Not bad for a local blog.

Thank you Eugene. We wish you a gazillion readers to your blog! I just want to say here, Eugene Flinn would have made an excellent county commissioner.

Congratulations on your success and thanks for being there early and often.
A thanks also for providing an outlet for anonymous commenters, the wisdom of the crowd.

Anon, yes. I have mixed feelings about news websites that require commenters to provide personal information. Often, information we could not easily obtain otherwise comes from readers who need to remain anonymous for job security reasons. We understand that. We also thank, so very much, readers who identify themselves to us through email contact and have proven to be knowledgable and sources that otherwise would not be heard.

Congratulations and thanks for all the good work.

As I said to a colleague and long time SF resident: "If you don't read Eye on Miami, you don't know what's going on."

You are read because of your quirky, yet on point, writing style. It's cuts to the bone, educates, and you don't talk down to someone new to the subject. I'm amazed that you have new material seven days a week, including Christmas. My colleagues and I are truly grateful that you care so much and put yourself out there. Being able to empathize and not allow the trolls to manipulate this site-well done!! My thanks!

Congratulations.
Please keep informing us. Please keep uncovering the corruption in local, County and State governments.

It is very important to the community that you are here, and that you continue to bring pressure when and where you can. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

As a matter of fact, we need to start working on the county right now with the failure to redraw the voting precincts for the upcoming election. No question this is a plot to help Scott win. But under but no circumstances should we have one precinct with 1 person in it, and another one with 8,000 people in it. People should not have to suffer in long lines to defeat Scott, it should be as easy as possible. They have had plenty enough time since the last election to get it done.

Keep up the good work. The struggle continues!

Before writing that crappy novel Tom Wolfe should have read Eye on Miami. David Beckham should too.
