I know she's the new darling of this blog but really? She's as far to the left as Bell is to the right. Can we have a moderate as a third choice?

On a lighter note, I know she's going to give Bell a run for our tax dollars because Bell has proven that's her only way to win. She can't win on her crappy/sprawl/anti environment voting record or naming building after her mother who did nothing for Miami Dade County but spawn Bell!

I don't like extremes in government in general. In this case, I guess the argument can be made this BCC has shifted off the Richter scale to the far right, maybe and uber liberal is the only way to bring it down to earth?

Best of luck to Cava. It's going to be a fun campaign to watch and I'm sure the ethics department will be doing it's darned best to protect Bell as their history has shown.

I think she should steer clear of Judy Waldman.

Definitely, definitely need some more uber liberals in Miami Dade.

And please explain what makes her so far to the left that you'd rather have a moderate third choice?

Ms. Levine-Cava has done more than her share for the benefit of the citizens of Miami-Dade than many of our elected officials put together and that includes all persuasions of political thought. I am sure that the efforts to bring her down. I hope the voters of South Dade do the right thing and start cleaning up the County Commission.

Daniella has proven herself to have deep integrity, and to have the interests of the residents of South Florida close to her heart. Not everything is about ideology.

Ideology matters when it comes to problem solving. Jackson Bonds, School Bonds, Property Tax, Transportation 1/2 penny tax, etc., etc. etc. What's next? Just take my wallet, Miami-Dade, and give it back when it's empty.

Bell has disappointed me on some of those things, but not sure if Daniella will be better but maybe. I'd like to hear more of her ideas. Political bantering about what she's done in the past ... blah blah blah ....doesn't really interest me at this point. She's qualified. OK, now what?

Last anon, I agree. I remember reading this about her not too long ago from her own editorial:

http://eyeonmiami.blogspot.com/2013/10/daniella-levine-sounds-off-in-miami.html

It doesn't tell me what she's going to do to actually solve the budget issues or any problems at the BCC just that somehow things will be better. I really, really want real position statements not just campaign slogan's. And, I don't mean that in an offensive way, just give me non political slogans and moving forward. We get the experience, what's next and what is her platform as it relates to real life issues the BCC is dealing with?

I Got issues said...

Issues? You want more Issues? I got tooooo many issues to deal with already............

Daniella is a business woman. She is kind, but i think she knows how to motivate people to achieve good results with sound business practices. Isn't that the problem with government? No one knows how to run a customer oriented business without just giving money away and buying favor.

With a bad majority on the county commissioner -- the unreformable majority as we call them -- it is hard for one commissioner to make a difference, but taking away one of the majority would sure be a bonus...and Daniella can sure do that quite easily by being elected because Lynda Bell is one of the unreformable majority.

Check out the public library. Even with a skeletal staff, we strive to please. And watch the Mayor 'a $100,000+ blue ribbon panel attempt to recreate the wheel tomorrow morning. Whose budget did that money get taken from?? Webcast starting at 9:30am-11:30am on www.miamidade.gov.

Thank you Daniella for your support of libraries.

Librarian,

You are doing the good thing that many people in our community need.

It truly blows my mind that educated elected officials would snuff out libraries --- the very beating heart of some communities.

The library is where the young goes to study and escape the stress of home or the streets and the elderly go their library for intellectual nurturing and sometimes to lessen the pain of being alone. Libraries are the community's window into the
world. They bring information to the public in ways that expand horizons; and staff are the guides to that wonderful world.

OK, so where is Daniella on the some things that Bell has done that she does not approve of? I'd like some specifics. Maybe she could post here again. Let's compare and contrast something beyond personalities or likability. I truly want to know because it is so important who we have on the BCC.

If I were Daniella, I would not be posting about the commissioner. Bell's lack of fulfilling her job promises/responsibilities is for her to figure out, not for Daniella to explain and then have Ms. Bell have a response to at the first debate or forum.

Daniella should offer a platform and back it up with feasibility.

I vote for the most qualified person based on education, skills and practical knowledge.

For me, political skills such as AB gathering, butt kissing, intimidation tactics and badgering are not vote-getters, particularly when there are solid resumes involved in the election.
