Mr. Mayor: You Can't Write A Letter Like This On Behalf of ALL OF US. Geniusofdespair

First of all I do not want to wish this militant anti-gay group anything good and I am sure the thousands of gay residents living in Miami Dade County don't want to welcome anyone to the Christian Family Coalition Dinner. And I am sure County Commissioners Dennis Moss, Jean Monestime and State Rep. Illeana Ros Lehtinen wish this letter was never written on their behalf.

All Carlos Gimenez had to do was write "residents" without the number: 2.5 million.  It insults all of us who do not ascribe to the beliefs of this group. The Christian Family Coalition is Anti-Gay and hurls insults at anyone that disagrees with them - Like Dennis Moss and Illeana.

Here is a statement released by the group:
"The United States Senate voted 68-29 in favor of a so-called "hate crimes" provision part of the extremist homosexual agenda to silence Christians and people of faith and use the government to marginalize anyone whose faith is at odds with homosexuality! This legislation clearly violates the principle of equal justice under the law and infringes on the free speech rights of ALL Americans!

The passage of this bill enshrines hate, bigotry, intolerance and discrimination into federal law.

Dangerous homosexual extremists who try to manipulate public opinion by playing the so-called victims who need special legal protections are truly the VICTIMIZERS who promote HATE, BIGOTRY, INTOLERANCE and DISCRIMINATION against anyone who dares to speak up against their agenda and shares an opinion different from theirs." (their caps, not mine)
Readers: This law they are describing is to stop people from beating up on people just because they are homosexuals. The US Senate, that can't agree on much of anything, passed this law by a wide margin because it was the right thing to do.

If I remember correctly, the top gay/lesbian organization in Miami-Dade County supported Mayor Gimenez during his reelection bid. Not surprised he turns his back on them now. Gimenez is a creature of habit. He will betray anyone near him in order to remain on top. Remember the lesson next time he runs for office.

I just lost my breakfast! I DO NOT WANT TO WISH THEM ANYTHING BUT TO GO AWAY! They are a hate group. How absolutely stupid and offensive this letter is because the Mayor is not speaking on behalf of me, my neighbors nor probably about 2.4 million residents who are free thinkers.

BTW, Bell attended the Log Cabin Republicans meeting. I like the group and what they're doing but I would love to see Bell actually support legislation supporting Gay Rights which she will not do! I hope they're not conned by this and I wonder what the CFC thinks about Bell's attendance at that party.

Have a little more tolerance. I am disgusted by pro-gay groups, but I don't write opinion pieces trashing them when the mayor writes a routine letter welcoming them or honoring one of their events.

Gays continue to show themselves to be the least tolerant of all Americans. Their anti-Christian bullying is visible to all.

Yesterday, the Mayor "on behalf of the Chairwoman Rebeca Sosa and Members of the Board of County Commissioners" offered the employees "heartfelt wishes to each of you and your families for a joyous season and a prosperous and healthy new year." This twisted message is delivered just two days after making sure the employees would be taxed to support his right wing agenda to protect the wealthy one-percenters! I wish the Mayor big lumps of coal and a year of personal challenges - he is an evil and cynical man.

If the Mayor is going to send those types of letters, he's going to have to get busy sending them out to the thousands of community based groups in the County who are holding their "annual events". This is ridiculous pandering.

The CFC is a HATE group living large on our tax dollars county wide. Why are they receiving a special letter.

Dear Mayor, you're just an A**hole. May you be recalled soon because I'm disgusted.

this group CFC trashes judges, sorry they are just evil.
July 31st:
Corrupt Appeals Judges VIOLATE Oath of Office, Irrationally Attack Law Protectng Children! Florida Voters: Lawless Judges Must Be Impeached!

CFC Verdugo said further in the same press release - as if the above wasn't bad enough:

However, today, corrupt judges on a Third District Court of Appeals panel, Gerald B. Cope Jr., Frank A. Shepherd and Vance E. Salter, intentionally usurped the authority of the Florida State legislature and Florida voters by behaving as if they were "gods" and undemocratically imposing their warped prejudices and personal whims on 18 million Floridians.
------------
How on earth could ANY judge/judge candidate be associated with a group that would say such inflammatory and untrue words against judges over their ruling? The subject of the case is irrelevant. The fact is, the 3 judges were doing their job. How could any judge who claims to be impartial, accept baseless charges against another judge over a ruling they made? The judges being endorsed didn't hear the testimony in the case so how could they put their good name with the CFC that makes baseless claims about other judges' conduct because they make rulings that disagree with CFC? Why would those endorsed ever allow another judge to be maligned - in the context of a ruling - by a group that endorsed them? How could any judge or judge candidate bear witness to another judge being called 'corrupt' and 'lawless' for their opinion on a case? How could any judge or judge candidate take an endorsement from a group calling for the impeachment of a judge over his or her opinion on a case?

Gay Groups have not done that...

Gimenez has become a third-world, tin horn dictator in the style of Noriega or Khadafy. He has exchanged his City of Miami fireman’s uniform for a general’s camouflage uniform with red beret and four stars.
Strongman Gimenez and his cohorts have become dangerously out-of-touch with the national gay rights dialogue and pander to interests that will keep them employed.
Gimenez is running Miami-Dade County like a democracy that has become a dupe of a coup d’état. He has created a sovereign nation of 2.5 million clueless fools subject to his pronouncement and vicious caprice.

God commands us to live a good life and not judge others. That is not our purpose on this earth. The Christian Coalition misses the mark and I am sad for that. It is a tremendous opportunity lost as far as I am concerned. WIth the hatefulness that they allow to creep through their organization, they prevent themselves from being a truly powerful organization. On a brighter note, I am pleased that the Pope is trying to put many things in perspective. I am not a Catholic, but I think his servitude is telling. For this, I have hope. Focus on the good. Multiply that, readers. There are many good people here. Thank you all and have a wonderful season. Thank you Genius. Sending you a big hug.

G.O.D., if you don't think gay advocates use strong rhetoric in their criticism of judges, read what they say about Scalia and Thomas. Freedom of speech should be for everyone, including Christians.

What people don't understand is that this is a ceremonial duty of the Mayor to honor visitors to the county who are new to the area, spending money and helping our economy. My guess is they send out many of these each week. They probably have ten or more boiler-plate letters like this in the computer where you simply insert the name and address of the group, and bingo, it is in their dinner booklet. I am sure there is one for controversial groups. The staff made a poor choice of letters in this case, wasn't thinking, did not ask advice, and was operating on remote control. You must have people around you who can think. The Mayor probably never saw the letter. My suggestion to the Mayor is to have a top executive read and approve these before they go out.

this is not about freedom of speech - it is about an elected official embracing a group that vehemently promotes hate. They can go ahead and do that - This is the Mayor who is elected by and represents all of us. He has no business welcoming them on our behalf and on government stationary. If he wants to pay for and attend the gala - let him -as a private citizen.

What the homosexual people have to understand is that many Americans, both on the left and the right, will NEVER approve of their way of life because it is specifically taught against in scripture. It does not matter that any President, any Supreme Court, or any one on this earth approves of this way of life. There is someone greater than all of them combined. In all cases they will honor, respect, and follow the word of God. Everyone can do what they want to do, this is a heaven or hell situation, and each person makes the call for themselves. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Once everyone understands that, everything will be all right.

Geniusofdespair said...

There are a lot of different interpretations of Lord. Some don't believe in heaven or hell. Christians always think that they have the only way -- well you don't anonymous above. There are Jews, Muslims and others that interpret things differently. They don't read YOUR bible. Eat any pork lately?

It seems we all agree in comments that we don't agree with the mayor's assessment. He should've congratulated them on his own, not on our behalf.

Umm ... that would be the LBGTQ bullies who repeatedly vent their hate for people of faith.

I have plenty of catholic gay friends that go to church. What do you have to say to that "people of Faith?" Or does people of faith another way of saying "Gay Hater" in your mind small? God loves ALL his children.

I am unapologetic about my faith, and respect whatever others feel about theirs. These are personal calls about eternal life. The Bible must be read with clarity. The old testament was written primarily about the Jews. Among a whole lot of Jewish history, and prophesy, it includes the Mosaic law for Jews that refers to the eating of pork, and thousands of other things they had to do under Mosaic law. This was one of the covenants God had with them. I am a Gentile who is saved under Paul's gospel of birth, death, and resurrection of Christ from the dead that is covered in Paul's writing in the New Testament. We are not saved under the law, the law does not apply to us, we are saved under grace of God through the belief in Paul's gospel. There is a big difference.

When the scriptures are read literally they can be woven in many interpretations and create havoc in mankind's thinking.

Genius: not so fast to create a stomach ache: A little leven of what could be understood as Truth can desolve the adamant of any kind of error. It's been proven many times in life. A
spiritual understanding of the scriptures can & will disolve
hate of all kinds.

What I remember from my 10+ years of relgious (Christian) education is that Jesus was a man who never married, enjoyed the company of other men (12 apostles, at least), and who preached that we should love one another. I also seem to remember something about "let ye who is without sin, cast the first stone." I don't remember him saying anything about giving a damn about what goes on in someone else's bedroom.

As for the hate-mongering of the CFC, I'm not so sure that Jesus would have tolerated it. Remember how he felt about the money changers?

If one is still operating under Mosaic law, you need to be aware that it expressly prohibits homosexuality. In fact, I don't know of any religion which supports it.

Are you talking about Mosaic, the phosphate company?

Why all this ink about Gimenez?

And who cares what he believes or not believe?

He endorsed Mark Bell, the least responsible candidate ever to hit this earth.

After that, he is toxic to me...and I supported him when he ran for Mayor.

Why was he interfering in Homestead politics in the first place? Does he not know that as County mayor that is never done? Live and learn...He will never be reelected.

It will be interesting to see how many votes he gets from Homestead.
