The final Homestead Tally for Mayor and Analysis. By Geniusofdespair

Jeff Porter got 55.15% of the vote and Mark Bell got 44.85. 2,990 people voted out of 19,000 registered voters.

On election day Porter got 872 votes to Bell's 476 votes. Unheard of, Bell got 414 early voting. That number is never as high as election day.   Bell also got as many absentees as he did on election day.

This is a big loss for Lynda Bell. It is also a big loss for Wayne Rosen who bet on the wrong pony.  Please Jeff, don't let Rosen run your city anymore.  He f--ked you as did the rock miners.  I want to see a new day in Homestead...if that is possible.

Lynda Bell's own illusion of invincibility is cracked. She has bit off more than she can chew. This loss will dog her own campaign. Her rudeness to Rebeca Sosa, her demeanor on the dais, her lack of common sense, and her T Party agenda will do her in. Get smart donors or you will be left in the dark like Wayne Rosen and Steve Toricse. Lynda took them down a losing path in Homestead and she will take you down a losing path in the County.  I suggest you study the Mark Bell donor list Jeff. They tried to buy the election from you.

This is a good day for Miami Dade County.

Do you think Commissioner Moss is ready to "ring that Bell" for her putting Pena up against him? She sure blew that one. A lot of noise, but no traction. Strike one for Bell.

She next showed her vunerability in supporting Dubois and Araza in Palmetto Bay. Dubois won in a very close race due to his own money and large volunteer base and largely in spite of Bell's support. That was a 29 vote win for Dubois, with no credit to Bell for any coattails. Strike two for Bell.

And now the bell rings hollow once again in Homestead. The people who know her best like her least. Her attempted palace coup blows up in her face. She brings her own husband down. You really need to think hard how many people could actually lose an election with such a commanding lead in money. Strike three.

Bell has worked hard over these last few years to show how weak she actually is. Now it is time for all of you to quit talking and start working to show Bell the door in 2014.

Lynda Bell - she has worked hard to earn your distrust.

Jeff Porter, stay away from Steve shiver!

Thank you! Finally, the Bells are getting what they deserve, NOTHING! Now, if Miami Dade could just get rid of LB... And let's hope Porter does a good job in Homestead. He and Bateman are cut from the same cloth, so even though Bateman couldn't make it this time, at least Porter did... Anyone is better than a BELL!!!

It looks like Lynda got her Bell rung, but not they way Mark usually tries to do it.

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to complete the anonymous who talked about Dubois. Dubois won by 28 votes (couldn't believe 29 was so close and the website made it even worse) with paid for campaign volunteers. There is a difference if you are paying for your volunteers whether with money from the campaign or votes on Palmer Trinity and Rosen's developments later.

Porter better watch out. Lynda is not done with Homestead yet.

Ok...rose colored glasses are on; seeing through your world now...

Kindly,

Pollyanna

Jeff is a gracious person, I'll give him that....I'll take off my rose colored glasses if:

Stay away from SS; do not sell the bowling alley (read between the lines)to his investor.

Sell the Seminole ( Merv can't be the agent)

No to bankers!

Loose Michael Rosenberg

Grow Homestead...Attract jobs that pay!

No more pawn shops, check chasing, mattress stores, and store front churches....

Curious if anyone thinks the Miami-Dade Democratic Party was the reason behind Porter's win? They are certainly taking credit for it. I thought these races were non-partisan, or is that just on paper?

It was an anti-Bell test and it worked except for the fact that Homestead voters will do as told for L-Tryptophan. Really there were no viable candidates for any of the voters to choose. Opie I and Opie II for mayor of the village idiots. The anti-Bell cabal worked to perfection as predicted here.
Remember Jose Luis Castillo was supposed to be working for Annette Taddeo in 2010 but she cut him loose and he hooked up with Bell. Little bit of revenge here as Taddeo was defeated handily and she now has a measure of revenge.

Oh, please. Taddeo was defeated the minute she opened her mouth at public functions.

Everyone made fun of her, even Gene Flinn.

Pollyanna, I'm with you and your thoughts. As to political party's I hope this isn't another Lynda Bell do as I say not as I do as she's already given campaign $$ to the Republican's from her campaign account. I didn't see Porter sending donation checks to the DNC on his campaign reports. Porter did thank Taddeo and the local Dem party for their help last night at his swearing in.

I'm hoping this is the start of the Bell derailment train wreck. Whoever helped who doesn't matter because Bell lost and it's shameful his wife made him run in the first place. Think about what she knowingly and willingly set her own husband up for. If they weren't so Tea Party, a good divorce lawyer would be appropriate here.

Rumor has it Mark Bell told Shiver he was damaged goods with the shotgun house deal and people will not let Jeff live it down. Well I guess that's a wrong turn huh? Steve Losner and Kim Ferguson are in my opinion the most vindictive and idiotic people on earth and they keep stirring the pot. I just want to share a few observations. Steve Losner, you will NEVER be Mayor of Homestead and Shiver had nothing to do with that. That's you own personality getting in your way. Kim, well you know the truth and from what I hear about the lawsuit he filed against you and Allen Dunnegan, and the $400k Judgement David Beam already has against you, well, lets just say you've got a lot more skeletons than Shiver ever had.

By the way does a convicted felon like your husband Gary Furgeson get to on or operate and gun shop? Any DA our ATF agent out there just needs to follow the paper trail. More to come, lots more to come.

Eugene never made fun of Annette ... He took her very seriously as a candidate and respected the fact that she was very viable in a 2 person race.

He did not have a love for everyone running, but I never saw him be rude to anyone during the events.

The bucks these guys put in the Bell campaign are less than their lunch and bar tab at Ocean Reef on any given Saturday afternoon. Keep in mind, it's all relative and the campaign expense was just a cost of doing business. These people are incredibly wealthy and have a much bigger picture agenda than just Homestead and without playing nice with Lynda, that could have been jeopardized. You will see their names again on her campaign report and that of the PAC's/ ECO's supporting her. It's the power of the incumbency at work.

Anonymous said...

Bell is a weak incumbent no matter how one wants to spin it, which is what the last anon is doing. Chump change from wealthy donors in to campaigns is nothing new. Wealthy donors don't like losers. Bell is one. That war chest will dwindle because it won't matter if she doesn't get elected, which she won't. This race just proved it. She's not strong in any portion of the district.

Anonymous said...

Trust me, I'm not spinning it. I know Bell is a power hungry phony. The rich guys will hedge their bets but almost never go all out against an incumbent.

Anonymous said...

Weak incumbent ? Never underestimate Lynda Bell. Jeff Porter should have won by a much larger margin over Mr. Lynda but his failure to do so demonstrates the power of the Bell spin machine.

Eyeonstead said...

Last anon. Underestimate? Really. If she raised over $250k for the Lynmark campaign and STILL lost with Porters less than $75k total? With Brady one of lynmarks self proclaimed republican wanna be allegedly changing votes for bell when they should have been porter. Guys The Bellbus has ran over her last tax paying resident and even friend. Now she may hit a few un suspected naive koolaide drinking groupies like Wayne Rosen on the way out but the Bellbuss is out of gas.

10 point margin seems pretty significant these days. If by power of the Bell spin machine, I hope you mean the power to make really dumb decisions on message and voter contact.

Anonymous said...

10 % of 15% voter turnout is pitiful!

Is it possible to change the election year? If so, this is one of the items I would like Mayor Porter to address.
