Recall of Bruno Barreiro is happening again. By Geniusofdespair

My picture of Bruno Barreiro.
Hi all. I was just informed that there is a Facebook page to recall County Commissioner Bruno Barreiro. Everyone doesn't have Facebook get a web page too!

My question is: Where is your petition?  I think this is an effort of neophytes with good intentions. Someone help them.

I am all for recalling the guy most responsible for the Marlin's horrible contract that we will paying for for eons, but the people on the Facebook page are most horrified by him leaving seniors living in deplorable conditions.  Good luck but get that petition out! I was part of the last recall. We lost by a couple of hundred votes. He is not easy to get people to sign for. He is popular for some unknown reason.

Sometimes neophytes have the best luck! Grass roots works pretty good. Braman dropped the ball on this when they were very, very close and still don't know what the real problem was. It can be done, if done right to the letter of the law, which I'm crossing my fingers they have a good legal minds somewhere helping them.

We would like to thank Eye on Miami for featuring us on your report.

Mr.Barreiro is popular for his patron-clientelism where he gifts food, jewelry, and other goods to his vote manipulators. Most notably people within the senior living housing that we have discussed on our page.

We have begun our facebook page and website early in efforts to ramp up publicity and ensure support when the petition is released. We will be filing for a political committee later in the year to collect money for the efforts. However, the petition will not be released until January in order to respect State of Florida and Miami-Dade County laws stating that no official may be recalled until he has served 1/4 of his term.

Thank you for the support, we invite everyone to visit our website, facebook page, and join our planning sessions. We have learned from the past recall efforts and this one will succeed in removing a corrupt guardian of special interests from our Miami-Dade Commission.

Regards,
Recall Barreiro Team

The citizens need to STOP! playing around with recall I remember the short lived Lynda Bell recall and after they got what they wanted it stopped. If you are not serious then stop making fools of yourselves. RECALL IS NOT A PLAY TOOL TO STRIKE FEAR IN ELECTED OFFICIALS. STOP CRYING WOLF AND GET SERIOUS.

The Marlins Scam will cost the taxpayers of Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami well over $3 BILLION. Bruno Barrerio made the Motion to approve and with the help of Dennis Moss they refused to allow any "friendly amendments" that could have made the crappy deceitful deal slightly less crappy. Pepe Diaz and Audrey Edmunson also voted Yes. At the City Spence-Jones and Marky Sarnoff also voted for the scam. Hopefully the SEC will indict disgraced Mayors Manny Diaz and Carlos Alvarez among a long list of creeps.

By the way, the Marlins just lost 100 games. In one season. Predictable.

To anonymous regarding recall as a tool. It is indeed a tool to correct injustice by officials. Barreiro is playing the commission as a game of monopoly. We will not be appeased, we have only one demand "Barreiro's resignation from the Miami-Dade County Commission."

Genius, you didn't lose by a couple hundred votes. You lacked enough signatures to even get it on the ballot. That was one of 5 that Vanessa Brito went after. She failed to get 4 of them. And I see by the website that she's not involved. She failed in her attempt to get the Vice Mayor of Doral recalled (even though she duplicated signatures and then corruptly accused the Doral Clerk of destroying petitions) and gave up trying to get the Mayor of Miami Gardens recalled, too. Without the deep pockets of someone like Norman Braman, this effort will likely fail, too.

Recall Barreiro and replace him with whom? This is a fool's errand. Regardless of what some people want desperately to believe, Bruno is popular in his district.

Do Bruno's constituents know Bruno is a co-conspiritor on the Marlins Scam and that he is a patsy for billboard lobbyists? Has Bruno voted yes for every corrupt deal?

Anonymous said...

As a devoted hater of the Marlins deal, I understand your sentiments on that issue. But even if Bruno's constituents know about his pro-Marlins vote, whether they care is a totally different question. Remember, the stadium is located in his district!

Barreiro's district will not melt down over the Marlins or billboards. If the recall is motivated by these issues then its failure is assured.

You are probably right about these issues. The critical factor with these recalls is constituent services. If they donot respond to people in their districts,if they show little concern for issues and problems confronting people, if they fail to deliver on critical issues impacting people's lives, if they have poor day-to-services to solve individual people problems, and if they view themselves as big-shots, too important to address issues of "little people", show no concern for them as evidenced by successes in problem-solving,and by limiting access to their time with them, then you have a good candidate for a recall. These kind of elected officials are also good targets for being taken out in re-election. Commissioners, and politicians in general, who have top-notch rofessional constituent services operations, will be there as long as they desire, unless they are term limited. The Committee needs to evaluate his consituent services operation. If it is weak, then you have a good chance at a recall. But if he has a strong constituent services operation, forget it.

I’M SICK AND TIRED OF COUNTY POLITICS, NEPOTISM IS A REQUIREMENT, APPROVING BIG CONTRACTS AS AN ASSITANT DIRECTOR OR DIRECTOR NOT A PROBLEM BUT THE BEST PART IS WHEN YOU GET TO RETIRE AND THEN WORK FOR THE SAME FIRM THAT YOU HAVE APPROVED THE CONTRACT JUST MONTHS BEFORE. It IS real and HAPPENING AT THE PORT of MIAMI.
…..AVOIDING TRANSPARENCY WHEN PRESENTING THE ITEMS TO COMMISSION IS ALSO STANDARD PRACTICE, TAKE FOR INSTANCE THE PORT OF MIAMI $1 BILLION DOLLARS IN DEBT AND THE BUDGET WAS JUST APPROVED A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO BY THE COMMISSIONERS ….HOW IN THE WORLD ARE THEY GOING TO PAY FOR IT IN 30 YEARS IF THEY ARE NOT MAKING MONEY NOW….IT IS SICKENING...WERE IS THE ETHICS COMMISSION, THE STATE ATTORNEY’S OFFICE AND THE OFFICE OF THE INPECTOR GENERAL…PERHAPS THEY ALL HAVE RELATIVES WORKING AT THE COUNTY IT IS ALL GOOD….

Bruno does appear to have enough staff to field questions from his elderly constituents. Yes, he might be able to get pot holes filled but on the big issues requiring Bruno to show ethics and IQ he fails miserably. Bruno is a poster child for why we need term limits. Voters deserve more.

You should check, don't make any assumptions. You can look at a number of indicators. Does he have a human being answering the phone or a recording? If no one is there when you call, what is the response time from the time a call is made to initial contact? Does he have procedures for intake of problems and issues? Does he meet with constituents? Does he have staff meet with them? Is there detailed follow-up, progress reporting and feedback on the problem? Does he simply refer you to others to solve problems, or does he provide hands -on- monitoring until the problem is solved? What is his success rate on constituent problems and issues? After the election, does he have low or high visibility in the district? Is he easily accessible, or do you have to be someone important to actually get to him? These are just a few that immediately come to mind, but I am sure there are others.

Sure, Bruno might whisper sweet nothings in the ears of the old ladies BUT the dude caves in to every scam and Ponzi scheme thrown his way. Bruno is a deer in the headlights facing a David Samson or another slick lobbyist.

If he takes care of people, no one is going to bite the hand that feeds them. Those old ladies have the power, they know it, and are the ones who will keep him in office or take him out of office. Other than resignation, criminal indictment, or term limits, you may have to work with him.
