So much negativity, wasted effort that could have been directed towards something positive for the nation. Obamacare is the law of the land, and we are a nation of laws.

In life you have to pick your fights. Some battles are unwinable, but you have to be able make the call. No one in their right mind would take the country hostage. Obamacare is extremely popular with Americans as millions upon millions are trying to get into the system and purchase insurance. With overwhelming demand exceeding system capacity, they are now trying to figure out what to do to accommodate all these people who want in. In terms of the debt ceiling, who in their right minds would not want to pay the bills we have made? Time to back off now. Obamacare will be around for the rest of our lives, and there is plenty of time to work on it. In terms of the debt ceiling, we have to pay our bills period, no questions asked.

Give me another trillion so we can spend another trillion. This time, I'll quite the habit (sniff, wipes nose and goes for needle).

WIC program a scam
Disability program a scam
Crop insurance pays farmers more in drought
EPA useless as tits on a bull
FDA inspects a tiny percentage of the food you eat
MMS full of lobbyists, asleep at the wheel

$1T became $3T and will only insure 5% of the 15% of the people who are not insured.

Yup, we need to negotiate. Sorry, I know this is a liberal blog and I love you all and the amazing work you do, but it is time for a little wake up call.

Our GDP to Debt looks like Italy in the 1960's. We need to do something cause it ain't working.

If that is the case, it us up to us to collectively remedy the situation using established legislative processes. No need for terrorist legislators to hijack the country in pursuit of their demands. This is America, we will never support or give in to these kinds of threats. It is not in our character, and we don't do business that way. The only way now is to bow out gracefully understanding that in the end you must pay for your actions against the country.

Total fiction. No one ever said those quotes because no one is against "healthcare." Americans are against Obamacare.

The fact is Obamacare was passed without a single Republican vote. It was crammed down our throats without compromise. The Democrats are still refusing to compromise today, even when it means financial chaos.

No wonder Obamacare is the most hated law in history. The Democrats will be swept out of office in 2014 because of this debacle.

Words have impact and power. The Dems should have kept the moniker Romny-Care, this would have changed the discussion and kept it where it belonged.
You call a fetus a person, we call you an none expired corps.
Republicans are masters at political marketing and branding, just like in business. It's what they do for a living.
Its up to the rest to educate themselves about marketing so that its ploy's become transparent to all.

To the last anon, do you seriously believe Obamacare only has a PR branding problem? You could call it Romneycare, you can even call it the Affordable Healthcare Act (*cough* *cough*) ... but people will still hate it.

That's because, for the first time in history, the federal government is forcing us to buy private goods and services. We will be taxed by the IRS if we cant afford insurance or we don’t want to participate. Senators and Congressmen will receive huge subsidies for participating in exchanges while the average Joe will be paying through the nose. Big corporations have been granted exceptions from mandates while the little people are not given the same consideration. Fulltime work opportunities have dried up and our economy is suffering. The government is incompetent at running things as evidenced by the roll out fiasco. Obama himself refuses to enroll in the exchanges. Do you need any more reasons?

We talk about votes in Congress for ACA and reference the no Republican votes thing. This is true. I will add to this, however, that I don't believe big business was ever for it. That is why the President, by executive FIAT, did carve outs. He, and the DNC, realized that the money would flock to the GOP if they did not and 2014 and 16 would be their greatest nightmare.

I do agree that we should not be legislating by blackmail. GOP lost the narrative thread. It should have been really simple: good enough for me, good enough for thee. If this damn thing is law, then there should not have been carve outs. This, like the sequester, would be the bitter medicine that would force the left and right to put this monstrosity on a severe diet.

For those of you who are for this ACA (I am not) the surest way to save it would have been to perfect it. Now it will be launched and it will be a train wreck.

If I thought European style socialism would heal our woes, I might be with you. I do not. I care about my fellow man but ACA is like performing a root canal to fix a heart condition.

I am a pragmatist.

My wish list:
Limited government, fiscal responsibility, less fraud and less crony capitalism (DoD, HHS, all of it), rule of law, no carve outs by a redistributionist president, health insurance across state lines, no mandates for coverage we don't need (I don't need fertility @53). Less welfare to those who won't work and who breed like cats.

This whole debt ceiling thing is curious to me. It seems to me that once you authorize spending the money, and make the purchase, payment is automatic. So you approve spending and payment of the bill at the same time, not as a seperate action. There should never be a question of should we pay our debts.

If the government goes into default on Oct 17th, JP Morgan has announced it will cover government payments to its customers including veterans checks, and social security checks as overdrafts to their accounts, and not charge over draft fees. No other banks have joined them. People have to begin planning for if there is no veterans or social security check this month.

I wonder what the financial impact on Miami-Dade County will be if people don't get their checks? Whatever the impact, they can look to the GOP for their mortgage payments, rent payments, car payments, payments of light bills, telephone bills, city utilities, telephone bills, and food bills. . .

This will be interesting. Republicans are all about the money. There is big money in gambling. BUT, there is also that little thing called God (not genius of despair), to which the Repubs have proclaimed as their ultimate guide. At least that's what they say. Religious groups will be very much anti-crap shooting.

Its not just veterans and social security checks, but also medicare, medicaid, government contractors, military payroll, and retired military checks too. It will be a big mess.

As an American I am glad the republicans represent me and not the citizens of the world. I am a proud American the current administration has maxed out it's credit card and wants more even undoing the sequester cuts which are the law of the land and proposed by Obama and Lew. How quick they forget.

Remember these statements? Dems are a fucking joke.
