Friggin' Marco Rubio and His Homophobia. By Geniusofdespair

I know Judge William Thomas and he is an outstanding man, smart, funny and charming and openly gay. I am very sad at what happened to him at the hands of Marco Rubio who refused to blue slip him for the Federal Judiciary.

As Fred Grimm said in the Miami Herald, "Rubio Stomps on judges reputation" besides killing his nomination to the federal judiciary. Grimm said:
Ovalle, who knows everything about that courthouse, insisted that Thomas is regarded as one of the hardest-working, most competent judges in the Miami-Dade criminal court division.

But all this is to pretend that Rubio had some reason other than crass Tea Party politics for sabotaging Judge Thomas’ reputation and aborting the confirmation process.
Judge Thomas: I am so sorry. I know how proud you were to be considered for this post. You deserved it. He was rated well qualified by the Miami Dade County Bar Association.

As Bradford E. Brown, PhD said:
Judge Thomas was an outstanding Federal Public Defender. He also volunteered to help the Miami Dade NAACP on Legal Redress issues when I was President and did a superb job. He has received high praises for his work on the Bench.
Also read South Florida Lawyers on this subject. Really good take.

Don't kid yourself, this is all about Judge Thomas being gay. I guess it was bad enough he was black, it left Rubio's head spinning. Both Senators from Florida had to approve this appointment. Rubio is such a tool.

There is no question it is about homosexuality. And I understand Rubio's position. Did you know that homosexuality is a capital offense in many countries in the world? That many view homosexuality as a sign of weakness? And that these views of weakness bleeds into how people see you, and deal with you? Obama has put this country in an awful position on this homosexuality issue.

What planet are you from? This is the US where we love and accept our fellow man. We are all equal!

Rubio should be ashamed of himself. I should not be surprised but am still shocked. We should be welcoming good judges - not holding them up.

This should not be strange for us since Marco Rubio admired Jesse Helms the most vile and racist person during the civil rights era. Marco Rubio told the American people this on MSBC two years ago that Jesse Helms was his mentor and his admiration for Jesse Helms the Senator from the Carolinas.

I am not a Rubio supporter, but the world needs to know that we are not a timid, faint-hearted, cowardly people. We are tough, tenacious, unyielding, and cut-throats just like them. We understand them and the language they speak.

Rubio is not exactly the "all-American" boy himself. Look in the mirror, bigot.

One thing for sure, anyone who is thinking about running for President, needs to be in an intensive reading, and learning effort now. Clinton already knows a lot about current world affairs, geopolitical history and the use of strategy. But even she needs to reread the Bible from cover to cover and understand where we are on the bibical timeline, some good books on the rise and fall of nations, military history, although the Bible has a lot of military history in it, the characteristics of rulers, and key decisions and actions by rulers which changed the world. There is a lot to leading the free world. If they are going to run, they need to get prepared as once they announce, there won't be anytime for that. They will be in hot seats.

Scientist have begun to share with the general public on the science channel and now the weather channel their findings after 50 years of research in outer space since the 1963 Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. What they have discovered is that the universe is a very violent place, there are millions of solar systems out there, we are not even a dot on the map, and we can be extinct in the flash of an eye. One solar burst,, gamma ray burst, solar flare, rove planet, orbit shift, asteroid, black hole, and we join the dinosaurs. You need to think twice about the Bible.

Rubio himself has a very boyish gay persona and look. The reality in America is that we only aspire and sometimes pretend to accept everyone and regard everyone as equal when in fact we only do our best to tolerate one another, other cultures handle things differently.

It is interesting how all the Bible quoting fanatics fail to behave in a loving and compasionate way when dealing with people that do not share their believes. As far as considering the bible as the word of the Creator, it is an insult to the Creator. You are saying that God is a genocidal maniac that orders his army to kill men women and children, except the virgins that are to be distributed among the soldiers and priests, that treats his followers like dirt, just to see how faithful they are, that tells a good guy to offer his daughters to a licensious crowd to protect his angels, etc, etc,. I love my Creator and would never accept that those words came from Him.

It's Rubio keeping his street cred solid with the FRC..meanwhile I can see this kind of topic has brought out the American Taliban foaming at the mouth..FREEDOM FROM RELIGIOUS TYRANNY apparently stops at Rubio's door ( and campaign coffers )

Meanwhile the Koran believers execute those who can't recite verses.
When will that comparison appear on these pages?

Are you kidding me? Are you aware that Thomas was the judge who presided over the trial of the animals who abducted, gang raped, and murdered Ana Maria Angel? He put that poor girl’s family through hell as he made ruling after ruling in favor of the disgusting defendants. He even ruled that the ringleader’s confession should be thrown out without any legitimate reason. Thankfully, the appeals court overturned his illegal pro-criminal ruling and Ana Maria was able to get the justice she deserved.

There is an excellent reason Thomas should never be a federal judge and her name is ANA MARIA ANGEL!

Today, Marco Rubio voted to affirm the appointment of Todd Hughes as the first openly gay justice on a US Circuit Court of Appeals. So there goes your Marco-Rubio-is-homophobic theory. Do you have a plan B?

Not the same...Todd Hughes is from the Justice Department and he is white. It was NOT Rubio and Nelson who had to make the call. It was unanimous in the Senate. Rubio couldn't vote against it.

My personal experience in front of Judge Thomas was generally positive, but he was definitely indecisive. A fair review of his record could cause someone to question whether he us fit for a lifetime judicial appointment.

Rubio blocks a just jurist

Sen. Marco Rubio’s decision to deny Judge William Thomas a federal judgeship is nothing less than personal weakness. He has altered the facts to justify his unfair action. One of the cases he relies upon as proof was the murder of Ana Maria Angel. For seven years I was the lead prosecutor of the five men who committed that vicious crime. So I ask, what did the judge do wrong?

The claim is that a tear came to his eye when he rightfully sentenced another human being to die for this crime. Would the senator prefer a judge who is unable to impose such a severe sentence? A judge who would cause another to die callously without being moved? Judge Thomas properly imposed the highest sentence under law — the penalty of death.

He did all the law could require, yet was decent enough to be touched by the nature of that most severe penalty. I applaud him as a person and judge.
