I went to the County Check book and looked around at how the County was spending money. Apparently we are paying a lot of money to Apartment Complexes. I saw many more than just these. What is up with this? What are we subsidizing most of Miami? I only looked at "V" and there are plenty more.

What is this crap? Why are we giving apartments money. What happened to welfare?
Obviously those are housing subsidies. Ever hear of Section 8 housing? Would you rather they be homeless?
What about the 2 totaling almost $1,000,000?
Mr. Strong Mayor and District 8 and 9 Commissioners who is the LLC owners of these apartments? Never mind I will go to the state and find out the crooks involved in this. This is awful I know just why our taxes are so high. More affordable housing. Now I know the reason my homeowners insurance went up 725 dollars.
Thanks Genius!
It could be federal pass through money. At any rate it would be great it a group of citizens audited the checkbook.... Plain folks looking at it from a personal budget point of view.
I drive by subsidized housing projects and the so-called "poor" residents are often driving Mercedes and BMW's. Many have big shiny SUV's. Many people are scamming the system. The low income housing developers are charging the taxpayers $275,000 to $300,000 per 750 sq ft apartment and then scammers are paying $100 or $500 per month to rent the units.
You are going to want to look into a Mara S Mades.
There were some 2 story apartments built in Naranja-Modello south of Naranja Lakes next to Shiver's Bar-B-Q restaurant about 10 years ago and very nice. They are vacant now and just sitting and still look nice from the highwway. There must be some reason for their vacancy. Don't know the name of the complex---S.W. 282 Street & US#1 appx address
I'd like to see the Federal Funding side of this if it is section 8, which is what I'm assuming. I will tell you as a landlord, it's revolting when some prospective tenants drive up in a brand new car, tell me they're on section 8, but their boyfriend and/or girlfriend cannot be on the lease or they'll lose "their" funds from housing! Really? Their fund? It's crazy. Then, if you try to reject a section 8 tenant for anything other then some egregious offense, the County will come down on you for discrimination, with no basis. This is a black hole bleeding money. I see some of the most unqualified somehow qualify because they game the system and nothing is done about it. I see the subsidy's given to developers, either tax breaks or rent subsidy's which make me sick. It's so crazy in Miami Dade, I just sold my rental properties within this entire county because they're just not worth it. I'm not a crook like some of these affordable housing groups are, and I use that word "crook" in my opinion because what they charge verses rent in the unsubsidized world is far less then what they charge the county/cities. The same with construction costs on the "affordable" housing projects.
Maybe the Miami Dade Commissioners have a reason for this abuse of taxpayers to continue because they benefit from this shakedown of us.
Question? Do they own or have interest in this Section 8 fiasco? If the answer is YES! then it would seem to me a conflict of interest to vote on this shakedown. This again is someone's private piggy bank. Right Lynda.
Leon Wolfe owns the Villa Capri. Why did we make out such a large check to him?
Okay we don't know anything about these payments. They might or might not be Section 8. The large payment to Villa Capri is certainly interesting. He is an affordable housing developer.
I just posted them. Maybe we should all be looking at the budget and find our own savings for the mayor.
Instead of paying for all this housing why don't we train people to get a better job?
Maybe someone should audit housing and get money for libraries.
Many subsidized housing developers get paid a fee based on the amount and costs of construction. That fee, often 17%, was often manipulated to create higher fees for the developer and for the general contractors. Hence the Federal investigations into Carlyle and its contractors... Anyone wonder why Carlyle contributes so much to Spence-Jones and Edmunson?
This is why the online checkbook is a STUPID idea. Nobody knows anything about anything and everyone just guesses.
Knowing a tiny little bit, those big checks are likely construction reimbursement payments for affordable housing developments.
The information there is useless out of context.
would be curious to know how many of the residents are recent immigrants, especially those under wetfoot/dryfoot. Taxpayers are very generous (whether they know it or not)
bill losner knows. if you can find him on his yacht in the bahamas, ask him.
How many of the corrupt Miami-Dade County government officials were charged with a crime after the "House of Lies" housing agency scandal that went on for years and in which millions were stolen?? That would be ZERO.
I have no doubt our corrupt housing agency is still up to its usual tricks, only the Herald has essentially gone out of business and no one is watching.
