More on The Trip to China...We The Taxpayers Paid For. By Geniusofdespair

Okay, way too easy (artistic license: These 3 were Japanese)
Miami Herald's Naked Politics also believed the trip to Asia by out County Commissioners was newsworthy:

Miami-Dade Commission Vice-Chairwoman* Lynda Bell and Commissioner Audrey Edmonson were conspicuously absent from a high-profile April meeting setting a referendum for the Miami Dolphins.

The Herald also notes that besides the $13,000 the traveling trio (Lynda Bell also brought her Chief of Staff) cost taxpayers:

The final total won't be finalized until the county reimburses the commissioners for all of their expenses.

You might not be able to afford a trip to China but apparently your tax dollars were there in April! If you rent, you are not out of the woods on paying for this trip. This is exactly why your rent is so high...your landlord is paying for this stupid stuff.  A trade mission, drumming up business for the port: Gimme a break!  I think the Chinese know how to  find Miami if they want to do business, all they have to do is ask Genting Casinos.  Lynda Bell is not going to attract business. I wonder if Bell told them about her chain link fence resolution?

Sounds like a mission for the expressed purpose of visiting our gambling friends...who were listed as "sponsors" of this so called mission.

*Sorry Herald, I don't acknowledge Sosa's bestowed title.

Looks like Bell has already filled Natacha Seijas' vanity filled shoes, as she fox trots around the globe. That was quick!

When is Bell going to India on OUR money. This isnot very Tea Party like. Does Bell know China's limit on children and forced abortions? I guess she's given up the National RTL stuff (not)! I guess a blind eye on the Human Rights stuff is just a bit pesky for her as well.

It's ironic that the Homestead is Home blog is totally silent on this....Oh, they endorsed Lynda Bell in 2010!!!! And,I'm sure this won't help Mark Bell's mayoral run either.

Besides the money reimbursed for the trip, I would like to see an accounting of events, dinners, etc. that were comped, by who, and how much they are worth.

Genius, you have outdone yourself with that image of the three stooges.

I have been laughing for the last hour.

How many of Bell's young-uns made the trip?

The Seminoles contribute minimal amounts in the way of taxes. Genting will contribute billions plus revitalize the blight of downtown Miami.

The port dredging and Panama Canal expansion go hand in hand with business for Florida and most of the comments are directed personally at Bell? China is looking to and predicted to double exports in the next twenty years.

The supposition is that you don't want change, you embrace blight and there is no need to increase the tax base and tax revenue to pay for the infrastructure crumbling that you are incessantly complaining about.

Did I sum it up for you?

These comments sound like the dos amigas from Palmetto Bay.

The blight of downtown Miami???!! LOL...thought we were a "World Class City"..LMAO
whoever you are, shilling for Genting isn't anything to be ashamed of, I mean, we all gotta work.
I think TV shows and word of mouth do much more for Miami/South Florida than the hick from homestead could ever hope to do. It's also allowed to call her out on making nice nice with a country that FORCES abortion on women when she is so adamantly against a women's right to CHOOSE.
Genius, the 3 dancing stooges, well, you may have outdone yourself...

If is voters are naïve and gullible enough to believe it, with an age and IQ of 55, that little bit of propaganda sums it up perfectly.

Thanks, Lynda!

Speaking of the Pro-Bell HiH Blog, y'all be sure to check out the Homestead vid.

It looks like the City of Miami is not far behind...or was it first? Commissioner Sarnoff and his wife took an exoti trip too.

It would take about an hour (if the County would provide the info) to figure out not only are these junkets free travel to our Commissioners but add to their campaign coffers. Then figure out how much they've actually netted the County back in some type of trade where there's not some type of "grant" (again with tax dollars) or some type of tax rebate (what you and I pay but they don't). The end result would be millions of our dollars gone down the drain. Hillbilly Bell is an embarrassment just watching a commission meeting on any given day. Having her "represent" Miami Dade anywhere outside her yes men group will net us even less or screw us even more out of tax revenue because they'll think we're as stupid as she is (when it comes to giving away OUR tax money though, it's a close call on the commission). She brings Eddie with her everywhere to complete a cohesive sentence for her.

I too can't wait for that "in kind" report from "others"!

Hmmm. Do you think that we need China to import OUR goods rather than keep sending their crap here?

How about stopping China from stealing our designs and then exporting them back to us as cheap goods?

Can we get some government help with the stuff that keeps us from getting back to business in this nation?

As for the jaunts abroad: If you are not an international trade organization director (IE: not government official) with your members sending you somewhere to meet with your peers, you need to stay at home.

Our county commissioners, mayors and city council people do not work for the state department and they do not work for tourism development agencies. They work for the constituents of this county or city (notice, I didn't say voters or lobbyists either).

The local government elected official job description does not include travel to foreign countries for chit chats on our dollars. This is another reason I would not give them a salary, they already get MAJOR perks that we taxpayers pay for.

They need to keep their BUTTS home unless they are going to Tallahassee or a local seminar.

Hey, want to know something silly? The little county label pins (the oval county seals in black/gold tone) have CHINA printed on the back. As a county employee, I actually presented Chinese-made county pins to visiting Chinese dignitaries. So, in theory, were these guys were reimporting them back to China?

Anonymous said...

teh heh. maybe lynda was placing an order of your pins?

Can someone please explain to me why my tax dollars not only pay for world wide trips for the wicked witch of south Florida, but also for her husband's "disability?"
When is enough enough?

The thought of him being mayor is almost as offensive as the shenanigans his wife pulled off as mayor! And now that she is a commissioner, she is getting away with even more! Abuse of privileges, misuse of the legal system, vindictive plots against those who did not support her, hiring the crooks that messed up the City of Homestead...

Honestly, the people of Homestead and even Miami- Dade County can't take anymore!!!
Bateman may not be perfect but he's the best thing that's happened to Homestead economically and socially. He's fixed many of her mishaps and disasters. And has accomplished far more than people thought he would.

Can you imagine Mark Bell, a retired plumber, currently running the Redland Hotel, on disability, running the City?!?!

Stay tuned, Bells...

A New Chapter of "For Whom the Bell Tolls" is coming...

Al Crespo detailed junkets Marc Sarnoff and his wifey took to China and Brazil. Sarnoff also missed regularly scheduled commission meetings. No wonder Miami is always broke...

We could have sent Commissioner Bell to WalMart headquarters. It would have been less costly. Now, if she was a CEO or big business guru, I might kind of like the idea of her going to China. Where did she go to school? Don't think she has those kinds of chop (sticks).

Another tax payer funded junket....The county funds these "non profit". Call it what it is: Taxpayer funded, not the spin with "non profits" who are funded by the taxpayer. What part of "District funds" aren't also taxpayer funded. This is what is the matter with County Hall. This kind of mindset totally outside of reality. Of course, the "political supporters" for the "in kind" stuff have to be included just as I wrote yesterday.

IF THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS USED THEIR TIME, SLUSH FUNDS AND TRAVEL SUPPORTING THE COUNTY BUSINESSES WE MIGHT EXPERIENCE A QUICKER RECOVERY IN DADE COUNTY. THEY OUGHT TO BE SHAME OF THEMSELVES.

THEIR OFFICE BUDGETS NEED TO DRY UP AND RETURN TO THE GENERAL OPERATING BUDGET. THESE BUDGETS THEY HAVE ARE USED FOR CAMPAIGNS TO REMAIN IN OFFICE. THE MONEY IS USED TO TRAVEL TO EXOTIC PLACES THESE CLOWNS WOULD NEVER TRAVEL TO USING THEIR OWN MONEY.
WE ARE SURELY SENDING A CLOWN TO REPRESEMT US EACH TIME WE SEND LYNDA BELL.

Lynda Bell may be the county commissioner for district 8 but she most certainly does not represent me.
