County Commissioner Lynda Bell is the Lone Vote AGAINST Trans-Inclusive Amendment. By Geniusofdespair

This article in the Miami Herald should cause quite a stir with the Christian Family Coalition, I am surprised I didn't get a press release from them denouncing it. According to the Miami Herald:
In May, Commissioners Bruno Barreiro and Audrey Edmonson filed a trans-inclusive amendment, which was co-sponsored by Commissioners Barbara Jordan and Sally Heyman. The amendment passed on first reading with an 11-1 vote. Only Miami-Dade Commission Vice Chairwoman Lynda Bell voted against.

Next, the amendment must pass the commission’s Health and Social Services Committee, which is chaired by Edmonson. A vote is scheduled on July 8. If three of five committee members approve the amendment, it goes back to the full commission for a final vote, probably in the fall.
I expect this will get ugly. Bell, up for reelection, will be between a rock and a hard place. Remember, 1st reading most Commissioners just vote yes. The 11-1 vote does not tell us what kind of battle is to come. There are 4 County Commissioners we know support it: Barreiro, Edmonson, Jordan and Heyman. I would think Moss will get on board and maybe Sosa. Don't know about the rest when the Christian Family Coalition comes knocking or should I say pounding. The fireworks on July 4th will be nothing compared to the July 8th Public Hearing.

I think Lynda would look great as "Mark" and vice versa! Bell already went to the capital of forced abortions so she's lost her RTL forever stripes! Hypocrite? No, she's worse but I cannot think of the word.

As to the issue itself I applaud the commissioners literally moving forward in to today's world and not being stuck in the 50's!

It would be hysterical if a group of supporters showed up in drag as Lynda Bell with supporter signs. Of course they would need to be just outside of County Hall because otherwise as funny as this is in my head, I would imagine some commissioners might get a bit irritated at the sight! As much as I can't stand just about the entire BCC, this is one issue I truly do support and wouldn't want an opportunity missed because of a warped/cynical sense of humor!

I can dream.

Here's the thing about people in drag, let's say you are at a public event or park and your child has to go to the restroom. Are you comfortable with that? Moron. Think before you write.
Now we have to pay for alternative lifestyle restrooms, enough with the PC bullshit.

Last comment: deserves the Putz tag.

I'd feel more comfortable about having my kid in a bathroom with a transgender person than I would having my kid anywhere with you, Putz.

Employment discrimination based upon gender is one thing in this law worthy of support. I would like to see the entire law as proposed.

In California they are now requiring schools to provide transgender facilities in high schools. Talk about targeting and bullying. At that age kids are finding themselves but are those same aged kids capable of being educated about something so personal to prevent the cliques from discriminating? This is a tough question.

This is about county benefits being denied to transgender people.

There is no such thing as transgender. You are either male or female. People who are confused about their gender should be shown the way to a psychologist for therapy.

I seriously hope this vote doesn't mean we taxpayers will have to pay for a ridiculous so-called sex change operations.
