No one blasted me for blogging from, Cuba last June. On the other hand, the A list stars who Huffington Post waxed breathless about, yesterday make it likely that I work in the wrong medium and definitely the wrong point of view.
As a blogger, I write that the embargo is a farce, violated on packed flights from Miami to Havana every day of the week. Can't I even get a fist bump?
The underlying story is how the embargo serves domestic politics on both sides of the Florida Straits. Especially Miami. Here, hatred of Castro has been the political organizing principle through which a thousand corruptions bloomed.
High five, anywhere? Yaoni?

You're a white guy.
This past election we saw the stranglehold of old time Cuban politics loosening up as younger Cubans and other Latinos voted Democrat. The old guard will use anything they can to regain control so how perfect that Black Democrats are shown parading around Cuba? Images speak a thousand words. I caught the subliminal message right away. I am white and of Cuban descent but I am first and foremost an American! Let's give up the illusion that we are preventing Cuba from doing anything or that the Old Guard will get their plantations back if it weren't for Fidel.
I am an American of Cuban descent, a Republican, and have absolutely no problems with Beyonce's visit to Cuba. However, Jay-Z wearing the El Che tshirt, is another story. This was very disturbing; El Che may be seen as a revolutionary hero in many places, but if one does their history homework, will see he was a ruthless and cold-blooded murderer - had thousands killed under his watch and orders.
And Batista never executed anybody?
The privileged exiles are hypocrites and liars. They don't care about Cubans living in Cuba. They care about re-acquiring what their families stole under the Batista regime.
Yes, Batista executed lots of people. Fidel hired El Che, to help him overtake Batista. El Che (born in Argentina) eventually betrayed Fidel, and was getting more popular than Fidel, so Catro had him killed. El Che murdered people, just like Batista - if not more.(Cuba's real history).
El Che is a traitor and a mass murderer.
This does not look like Beyounce. It appears to be her sister.
Very interesting to see them going there. I actually love Cuba. My brother was able to get some cuba vacation packages to take the whole family. We will be excited to go this summer.
