Jorge Perez and Manny Diaz: No Rewriting History Fellas. By Geniusofdespair

"An appeals court later found that the zoning changes violated state law, and that the vote was tainted by improper communications between (Jorge) Perez and then-Miami Mayor Manny Diaz." - Miami Herald

This paragraph alone should disqualify former Mayor Manny Diaz from further office.

Manny Diaz rewrites history in his book, trying to position himself for the Governorship, let's not let Jorge Perez do the same thing. Yes, Jorge Perez has a Museum named after him (stupid MAM) but I don't want to see him also running for office.  I wanted to get this history on our blog because the Herald does seem to lose some stories.

The article in the Miami Herald disturbed me, not because I think cone of silence violations don't go on, but to see it in writing makes it real for me...for all of us. Look at the tactics Jorge Perez's Related Group used:  Bribing neighbors with millions of dollars, hiring friends of commissioners, illegally talking about the project repeatedly to city officials before the vote, more importantly before the Public Hearing, and then harassment of those who oppose them. We citizens don't have a chance fighting developers. Except for establishing standing, we all waste our time at public hearings.

Who were the City of Miami Commissioners in 2007? Tomas Regalado, Linda Haskins/Marc Sarnoff, Joe Sanchez, Michele Spence Jones, Angel Gonzales - to the best of my knowledge. Three of them at least were tainted with violating the cone of silence.

Watch the US Century syndicate turn up as big supporters of Diaz' governor race ... keep your puke bags close.

Think of how many other projects were approved the same way and were never stopped by court action.
Business as usual in Miami.

In his victory speech Obama said about South Florida: "we have to fix that". What happened to that promise?

Of note, Regalado voted against and was vocally opposed to Perez.

Manny Diaz & Jorge Perez posts should also get the Barf tag.

I have not read either of their books because I just cannot stomach either one of them. However, in reading that article yesterday, I should have been shocked but wasn't. Think about what happens on the County level.

From what I read in the article yesterday, it appears Perez kind of snitches on himself bragging about how to get things done. He's made a fortune, including properties going bankrupt then working for the receiver. How the MAM put his name on that place is just more insider barf crap.

Will add that barf label. This is barf worthy.

I bet the Miami Herald newsroom never thought the sewer could smell as bad as this.

Don't forget the Manny Diaz & Monty Trainor connection.

Joe Sanchez the former highway patrolman, Angel Gonzalez who got indicted for soliciting a no-show job for his daughter (mother of a Joe Sanchez child) and Michelle Spence-Jones, she of the multiple indictments. Spence made Jorge Perez hire at least three of her best friends for a total of $150,000+. Surprise, Surprise. Spence voted to grant Perez's request to change the zoning to allow Perez's high rises in a single family zoned neighborhood. Manny Diaz worked to help Perez, hence the juries decision to find them guilty.

Don't forget the Mark Sarnoff connection

I pray the tides come quickly enough to watch them washed away.

Marc Sarnoff attended a private meeting with Steve Marin and Joe Arriola at Arriola's house. Sarnoff was also the crucial Yes swing vote to send the Marlins scam on to the County for rubber stamp approval.

Sarnoff is a weasel. As a democrat he helped republican Alex Diaz del la portilla with robo calls supporting him over the democratic candidate Rodriguez who thankfully prevailed in this last election. Guy has no ethics either.....

Sarnoff in pocket of Clear Channel and FUEL.
