Palmetto Bay: Bad Boys, Bad Boys? By Geniusofdespair

Not having ever been invited to the Thursday night poker games rumored to be happening at Vice Mayor  John Dubois's house, I must say I feel out of the loop on Palmetto Bay government.  I can picture John and the fellas smoking cigars and playing but I have no clue what goes on there and whether politics is even discussed.

Palmetto Bay Resident Gary Pastorella had some questions of the Village of Palmetto Bay Council. He noted that Councilman Patrick Fiore now works for Camillus House. John Dubois is also on the Board of Camillus House.  Pastorella believes that Fiore might be more likely to vote with the Vice Mayor in the future because of this working relationship. Don't worry Gary. That would never happen because they appear to already be singing the same tune.

Poker and cigars huh? This must be when all the "men of power" meet and discuss the future of Palmetto Bay at Dubois house. Fiore, Dubois, Ludovici, England, Zisman, Singer, Neidhart, Zarghum, Araiza, and future mayor candidates and former mayors, the list goes on. Does Schaffer show up too? Recall Palmetto Bay, money, development, payback for campaign support and quid pro quo are the order of the day.

Don't worry. Mayor Stanczyk will follow all the orders that Jerry Templter directs to the CCOCI board.

How did councilman Fiore get the job at cammilus house? Did DuBois or England pull strings?

Wasn't Fiore working for DCF last year? Did he get fired?

What a sad little town run by small minded people. They spend far too much time looking over the fence at each other and spreading horid little rumors about each other. Only Eye on Miami could make working for Camillus House some type of scandal.

Please take note that Mr Pastorella is currently a party in one of the far too many lawsuits to list involving this shameful cast of characters.

The entire council has turned Palmetto Bay into a toilet that needs to be flushed. The residents need to replace all three up for election in 2014. I am sure Mr. Pastorella will be back at work in the next elections with the concerned residents PAC.

Working for Camillus house was a scandal at one time. How quickly we forget. People went to jail. No place in Miami Dade county is immune to corruption 😞

I don't care if he is party to a hundred lawsuits, Mr. Pastorella brings up a very good point about a potential conflict here. He did so politely. Where is your beef? If mayor Gimenez was on the Board of Camillus house and Rebeca Sosa recently got a job there, we would all be crying foul about the job dependence influencing votes.

Speaking of bad Palmetto Bay boys and Camillus House,
From Miami New Times 2010:

The Village of Palmetto Bay's new mayor could have been at the center of one of the biggest scandals to rock Miami's most recognizable homeless charity, Camillus House. Peter England, who faces Shelley Stanczyk in a November 16 runoff, was Camillus's government relations director in 2004 when a former employee sued the agency for wrongful termination and accused England of violating state campaign finance laws.

Camillus House settled with Ty Hart, the agency's former development director, for an undisclosed amount, but in his federal complaint, Hart claimed England pressured co-workers to make political contributions to local candidates who were subsequently reimbursed by the agency. State law prohibits employers from laundering campaign donations through employees.

Oh and let us not forget Peter England's relationship with Art Teele.

Interesting about the lawsuits, anyone can sue for anything and anyone. Especially when the attorney filing the suits against the residents of Palmetto Bay is one of the "Bad Boys" and does it for free. Just a way to silence the residents who campaigned for candidates and intimidate people from running for office. And make them stack up the legal bills. They should all be ashamed especially John Dubois. He who lied to the voters that his lawsuit from DERM for filling wetlands and cutting mangroves was dismissed and was a lie. He should be careful who he lies to in the line-up of voters.

Who's the attorney filing all the lawsuits? Oh I bet it's JB Harris that old cut up. He's giving it away to the new Vice Mayor and his hired campaign workers for free. JB is the missing man at the poker table that I can see listed above. He specializes in intimidation and frivolous lawsuits. Throwing the spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks is his specialty. Even when he makes it up. He is one creative guy.

What an intersting little "poker club" this Concerned Citizens of Old Cutler, Inc, CCOCI, has become. It was started by Jerry Templer and Joan Lindsay. It is interesting to see who has been playing in this little shadow group that allegedly meets in private and provides instructions to the Mayor:

Title P/D
PEGRAM, BETTY
18121 SW 82ND AVE
VILLAGE OF PALMETTO BAY FL 33157 US

Title T/D
KAPLAN, STANLEY P
19 WEST FLAGLER STREET
MIAMI FL 33130 US

Title VP/D
PASTORELLA, GARY
6940 SW 142 TERRACE
PALMETTO BAY FL 33158 US

Title VP/D
MALDONADO, MILI

PALMETTO BAY FL 33157 US

Title VP/D
EXPOSITO, CAROL
7700 SW 178 STREET

When is the next election for this little non-group? Never is the word. Jerry Templer is the puppet master.

Keep on destroying Palmetto Bay and then who will ride in on the white horse to save the day?

I heard Fiore quit DCF. Friends in high places made that possible. How much did DCF pay him and how much is he paid now at Camillus House? Quiting after all the bother of getting the law passed that allowed him to keep his DCF job and be a councilman is quite something. In these tough times all of us should have sugar daddies giving us jobs. What does he really do there anyway? He never misses a work day function at the village.

Singing the same tune is right. At the last meeting Fiore pitched changing the election dates to allow for better use of absentee ballots, according to John. Then John tried to pitch a change in charter controlled election process. He wants a simple plurality or whoever gets the highest number of votes. This system is much easier to manipulate for a win. No 50% +1 majority. This should calm the waters when 67% of the residents no longer elect the leadership of the Village. Democracy or majority rule is no longer law in Palmetto Bay.

Let my people go.

That's right, I just checked the agenda on the village website. Dubois and Fiore are re-writing the charter with a mail in vote of their Bad Boy friends. I thought there was supposed to be resident input into charter changes and it was done every 5 years and it was just voted on. Trying to manipulate elections and the charter is something else.

Fiore for mayor 2016!

Children at play. A bunch of little tattle tails spreading lies about each other. Knock it off. Palmetto Bay is a prime example as to the reason Commissioner Sorenson opposed incorporation.

I blame Palmer Trinity for destroying
Palmetto Bay.

Tattle tales don't tell lies, they tell the truth that some want hidden.

Keep PF in PB, please and, for God Sakes, keep him busy so the rest of us don't have to deal with him. What were you folks thinking? That's all I can say.

Hypocrite alert. Warning. These photos may offend you.

While Genius of Despair is blaming Palmer for allegedly ruining Palmetto Bay, look who is showing up and glad handing at Palmer Events:

Go look at the Palmetto Bay official Facebook page. There is Mayor Stanczyk at Palmer Trinity, so pleased with herself to appear and glad hand with MLK 3. The lady has no sense of shame. http://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=a.10151270538630745.461826.80499470744&type=1

Think about it. This lady can really look you in the eye and lie. She is a mirror, reflecting back what she thinks you want to hear.

Well you can't have it both ways. You can't continue to demonize her for opposing the School's expansion and then demonize her for making an attempt at reconciliation. I know who you are. Your story of hate is always the same

Anonymous said...

I would think that the fiore-Dubois relationship would have to be disclosed on camillus house's 990's as a conflict. Wait they try to put one in on the Franjo triangle.

Anonymous said...

It is you who cannot have it both ways.

This was not reconciliation, this was a star struck wannabe mayor and councilmember who showed up only to glad hand with a superstar that they, themselves could never draw. And it is CCOCI and the followers who include the mayor who have to quit demonizing people and stop injecting hate, innuendo and outright fabrications into the elections.

Every reader of this blog has to admit that Vice Mayor John Dubois would had been vilified had he been there and Mayor Stanczyk stayed away. The anon above is nothing but a hypocrite.

Anonymous said...

Reconciliation? No way is the attendance by Stanczyk and Lindsay any type of reconciliation. Reconciliation is dropping the ongoing vilification. This is nothing more than two members of a village council looking to grab some time in a spotlight.

There is no greater example than Palmetto Bay’s official spin on the event. You really need to look at the Palmetto Bay web site. The Herald story does not event mention that Mayor Stanczyk was there. The story was Martin Luther King III speaks to Palmer. This was a big event and it made page three of the Miami Herald local news.

This is how Palmetto Bay portrays the event http://www.palmettobay-fl.gov/ :

Village News
MLK III at Palmer Trinity ... Mayor and Councilmembers attend keynote speech by Martin Luther King III at Palmer Trinity School's celebration of MLK Day. See Facebook photos and Miami Herald coverage. JAN 30,

What an overblow sense of self-importance. “Mayor and Councilmembers attend keynote speech”? As if. As if their presence added to the event. This was nothing more than Mayor Stanczik trying to jump in front of the camera and gain cheap publicity.

I hope that the cheap political antics of Stanczik and Lindsay do not tarnish the outstanding community event that Palmer has brought to Palmetto Bay and the entire County. God bless Palmer for taking the high road in this matter.

Boy's club at the vice mayor's house? Hardly. Both mayor Stanczyk and councilwoman Lindsay have both been to Dubois' home at least several times, including being there to celebrate with Commissioner Bell. The hypocrisy of many of these posters is very evident.

I would appreciate a public commend from both Stanczyk and Lindsay denying their attendance at events at the Dubois home. Maybe the attendance were merely acts of reconciliation.

I have seen photos of the Mayor at 2 events at John Dubois's house. So? As my mayor has to work with people even if the rest of us don't like them. It is two faced to be diplomatic.

Palmetto bug said...

Forgot the question mark at the end: It is two faced to be diplomatic?

Anonymous said...

It is two-faced to say that it is being diplomatic for the mayor to be at the house, but vilify anyone else who is in attendance. Either no one should play with John or it is permissible for anyone and everyone to play at John's house. Which is it Palmetto Bug? Make up your mind. The mayor employs typical bully tactics. In this case to maintain separate rules depending upon whether or not you happen to like the person in question.
