Former Mayor Manny Diaz for Governor? By Geniusofdespair

Manny Diaz and Charlie Crist both might run for Governor as Democrats.

Is our next Governor going to be a Democrat? I don't know. Florida Democrats are so misguided when picking candidates. Manny Diaz? Really?

According to Public Policy Polling
:

Among Democratic primary voters, Charlie Crist has a favorable rating of 73% and an unfavorable rating of 17%. When asked which Democratic candidate they would like to see run for governor next year, Crist won with 52% followed by Alex Sink (18%) and Pam Iorio (13%), among others.

Pam Iorio? Another: "Really"?

FP&L will be happy. Anyone but, Charlie Crist.

If you care about the environment in Florida, Charlie Crist is the one.

Before Democrats get to pick a candidate, candidates have to step forward. We should be delighted that a very viable candidate from our region has made a move in that direction.

The idea that the State of Florida could be led by a Democrat from South Florida is an exciting prospect. This region gets abused in Tallahassee. The benefits of a former Mayor of Miami occupying the Governor's Mansion could be very significant for all of us.

It is sort of fuzzy in my mind now, but didn't he have some kind of unethical financial dealings for personal gain before he left office?

Manny Diaz left office in disgrace. In eight years he took the City from having reserves of $140 MILLION to facing a deficit of $100+ MILLION. Diaz was responsible for the City losing over $20 MILLION on the Fire Fee fiasco. It was Manny Diaz who was the biggest cheerleader of the Marlins "deal" scam. The Marlins giveaway will cost the taxpayers over $3 BILLION. Diaz should be happy with his $110,000 per year pension from the taxpayers of Miami. After all, he put in not no cent towards his lifetime pension. Say goodnight Manny.

Charlie crist is the best person to run , he did more for florida than jeb bush and the current dush bag scott. Charlie crist besides all was a good governor and put everglades restoration #1 and education.

Manny Diaz turned Miami's public image around completely. Anyone who's been in Florida for the past thirty years recognizes that.

I am a fifth generation Floridian who lives in Miami, and I did not know anything about that!

Manny Diaz was mayor for eight years. He spent his time getting contracts for his friends and forcing the taxpayers to pay for his army of personal publicists. "Personal promotion at taxpayers expense". Slimy.

Let me be clear, as a fifth generation Floridian, I know nothing about Mr. Diaz's "completely turning Miami's image around!". As a matter of fact, as I recall, he contributed to our tarnished image.

Manny Diaz is a small man with small ideas. He would be nothing without a team of publicists creating a false persona. In Texas he would be described as "all hat and no cattle". Taxpayers deserve better.

Does anyone know if Charlie Crist voted for Alex Sink or Rick Scott in last election? How Dems could support him if he voted for Scott is beyond me (other than so desperate to win the Governorship).

This is why Scott is trying to dole out $2,500 in candy to teachers. This is RNC getting out ahead of things for a 2016 larger strategy. The "education governor" is trying to set it up.
