Pizza Quest. By Geniusofdespair

Obviously good pizza is important to me. Most people are taking photos of the tree in NYC, I take photos of the pizza. I have written a number of posts about  good and bad pizza.  This slice pictured above, I got in New York City, Near Lexington and 84 Street; hole in the wall establishment. You can get a slice of this sort of pizza every few blocks in Manhattan, it is nothing special -- but if this quality could be found here in Florida, I would be there a few time a week.  Notice the color. This is the right color for pizza.  The closest in color I have found in South Florida to New York pizza is at Franco and Vinny's on Sunrise near A1A.

Anyway, it was good pizza in New York...the one thing I miss down here in Florida...also good, non-doughy bagels.

The food in NY City is wonderful! I don't know what it is, pride in preparation, the quest for excellence in taste, the competition, the mix of various ethnic groups, not sure. But almost any place you go, the food is excellent.

Go to Stromboli's in the Fountains Shoppes in Plantation. They make the best NY style pizza in South Florida. I used to think some of the places on the beach were good, then I ate there... WOW.

Casola's. 2437 SW 17th Ave. And, you can get it by the slice.

Former New Yawker here:

I've not been to Franky & Vinny's but will try it out.

The BEST gourmet-style pizza I had in South Florida was by accident on a day trip to Naples at Campiello on 1177 Third Street South. Hands down the best.

Anthony's? meh

Upper East Side Pizza on 79th Street - Very good for nothing fancy pizza ie: regular pizza oven no coal or bricks. Reminds me of the kind I had as a kid.

Andiamo's - very good and fun atmosphere.

Giotto Pizza on West Avenue, Miami Beach - very good and nice outdoor seating.

Giotto, Andiamo and Upper East Side are the best I've had in the Miami area.

I used to like Naked Pizza but the last time it was not good. Don't know what happened to it.

Whole Foods for by the slice? Pretty good for a quick bite.

Casola's is TOO white. Cheese overdose. Not New York by any stretch of the imagination.

Joeys Restaurant on NW 2nd Ave and NW 25th Street. Thin crust. Excellent.
