Armed Guards at All Schools? By Geniusofdespair

How does Wayne LaPierre, NRA head, want to deal with assault weapons being used in schools? His answer, arm people with competing assault weapons in about 100,000 public schools. What a gift to the gun lobby that would be.

The fault with his logic, what about the movie theaters? Should we then have armed guards at every movie theater? Where do you stop? A camera on every corner along with an armed guard? Will that make us all feel safer?  Actually Mr. La Pierre, Star Trek thought of guns running amok first. In the 1968 episode "Piece of the Action" everyone on the planet carried machine guns. Have you not learned the lessons of Star Trek?

I went to their blog and they have a 3 or 4 year old kid pictured giving the finger. The title of their most recent article is: More buses is Not 'da Answer!.

I submit that: More guns is Not 'da Answer!

FYI- Miami-Dade public schools already has an armed police force in our schools.

You know what? If they put guns in the schools, a lot of people are going to start home schooling, signing up for virtual schools, and doing anything they can to prevent their kids from being around guns. It would kill public and private education as we know it.

Anonymous is correct, but there is not an armed police officer in every one of the 354 schools. If they did, it would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $35 million a year to pay for them. Extrapolate that out to every public school in the country, and we're looking at about $10 billion a year.

There should definitely be armed guards at all schools. There are armed guards at universities. Having armed guards does not guarantee that all sicko's will be stopped. It does not guarantee that there will never be an accident. But there will be many sicko's stopped. Let our schools be safe.

I would be willing to bet that the same people who want an officer in every school are the exact same people who complain about higher taxes and the inefficiency of the government.

Guaranteed.
