This is another reason we should form cities, the turnout in the unincorporated areas was pretty dismal compared to cities. I am surprised at the poor turnout in Florida City with Mayor Otis Wallace's wife running for Judge. I would have thought he would have gotten more people out.  Coral Gables, Miami Shores, Palmetto Bay and Pinecrest are the winners on voter turnout and it looks like Homestead overall, did the worst. They even had a pitiful 45.53% percent in one large precinct. I am surprised Hialeah didn't have a higher turnout, they were below the County percentage at most precincts. Aventura also didn't get out as many voters as in other places. I think Romney targeting the Jewish vote turned off Jewish voters to both of the candidates. It is even more surprising because there was a municipal election going on as well in Aventura. Same goes for Sunny Isles Beach on the Jewish vote. Anyone know Kendall's precinct numbers? (also read my follow-up post)

In other election news, according to the Sun Sentinel "Seven days after the election ended, and two days after the results were unofficially certified, Broward elections workers Monday said they had found 963 unaccounted-for ballots in a warehouse."

Holy crap did the beach and Coral Gables show up at their polling places or what? Such phenomenal turnout. I'm also surprised by Hialeah's stats.

And about the Broward missing ballots news: Como??

Opa Locka and Florida City had 50% precinct turnout. How did the Dems fall down in those cities with their Gotv?

The showing in South Dade is so bad I cannot believe it. Those are the precincts in the 800-900 range.

It actually helped the Dems by them not turning out in the south dade unincorporated areas because that is GOP territory, The City of Homestead is Dem, but not the rest of those precincts, they all lean republican.

What's even stranger is there was a massive back up in the city of homestead precincts on voting day so I assumed there was a much heavier turn out. I guess not.

The Wine and Cheese set -- east of Route 1 -- in South Dade (thank you Javier Souto for that characterization) did pretty well at voting.

Genius, the Souto line that lives in infamy down here. But those wine & cheese set areas are incorporated except for the pocket east of US 1 in between SW 216th St & around SW 300th St. and I would not consider those areas part of the "set" Souto so lovingly describes us down here!
