Lynda Bell says: Want Food? Bring a Picture ID. By Geniusofdespair

You want free food? Well you had better 1) Live in district 8, and 2) bring a picture ID???? What is that about?

This giveaway, is there any question who is giving away our tax dollars...oops I mean food, look at the size of Bell's name! Is that the biggest font on the computer? This is a blatant display of how commissioners get reelected. Why on earth does she need your picture ID? Heaven forbid she should give out food to someone outside the district, someone who can't vote for her. She is collecting your name at all these events people. Wise up! I think everyone should go early to this sham of an event and demand food. Tell me what happens when you say your forgot your picture ID. Mr. Mayor, can't you put a stop to this type of campaigning? Why doesn't Farm Share just do the giveaway themselves. Why have a Commissioner as a middle man?

LOL - I give her credit for great campaigning while on the tax payer dole!

I do not object to the photo ID. There's nothing wrong with that. However, there should be NO sign in sheet or anything which can be collected and used for future campaigning. That, I would object to.

"Let them eat cake" or whatever!

I'm sorry, but I cannot help laughing at this one. It's just so blatant and there's nothing we can do about it!

Retired person without a drivers license or person with no car who actually might need food won't be able to get it.

That is plain disgusting. Shame on Lynda Bell and I agree, Mayor Gimenez should put a stop to this. Talk about government intrusion in privacy.

Good point first commenter, If anyone goes please take a picture of the SIGN IN SHEET and email it to us at geniusofdespair@yahoo.com.

This is a new low, even for our District 8 "Pink Slyme Queen."

Panem et Circenses, indeed.

I wouldn't worry about the re-election campaign implications. I can't picture the wealthy Pinecrest folks with their multi-million dollar homes queuing-up in a food line.

Neither can I picture families from Florida City or Homestead taking a road trip or the South Dade Busway north to SW 200th Street.

She must have had a nettlesome "1st Annual Thanksgiving Food Giveaway!" which resulted in the photo ID requirement.

Next time, some creative use of Photoshop replacing her picture with the turkey in the lower right of the poster would be in order.

PINECREST IS NO LONGER IN HER DISTRICT. SHE WEEDED THEM OUT WHEN DISTRICTS WERE CHANGED AROUND. PINECREST IS IN XAVIER SUAREZ'S DISTRICT.

She has no comprehenion of what it means to give to someone in need. Hunger is very real in Miami-Dade County, and to pimp off of this real human need for political purposes is awful. When you give it should be from the heart, and at a public gathering, anyone who shows up hungry should be fed.

I'm pretty sure the homeless and hungry who really need help will probably not live in Dist. 8 or they're not living near SW 200th St. (no offense, but it's reality)!

Every time I read this moron's name, I just get the creeps. What a PoS!

There's plenty of hunger in District 8 unfortunately. There are lots of tiny low-rent apartments and row-houses around the old cutler ridge area and even some of the folks living in the single family homes in the older part of the ridge are barely getting by. there are far poorer areas near homestead, leisure city and naranja that are part of the district, but that doesn't mean there aren't hungry people elsewhere. hell, there's hungry people in kendal.

The -only in district 8- thing is bullshit since you don't pay taxes by the district. besides, cutler ridge is a city now.

If someone has lost their job, have little reserves, no one to support them or help them until they can find income, they could be hungry. There is a a new group, called the newly poor, who have never known hunger and who are uncomfortable asking for food or help. An event like this gives them a chance to get food without having to ask for help. It is a shame that people have to show ID. Many who need the food will stay away.

Lynda Bell is absolutely useless to District 8 voters. Will she be giving out pink slyme beef for the holiday. All this ID verification is unnecessary. If I live in District 5 I have friend or friends living in 8 I will get them to get the food for me. She is so dumb to think that ID will keep people from getting food. Lynda will you ever get any common sense at all. Open the food giveaway up to everyone.

Interesting that she had no problem helping the 8.5 Square Mile Area folks go after DERM even though they don't fall within District 8...

The feds require an ID to get food stamps.

Well, this is not food stamps. Every commissioner does these things, I just don't recall requiring an Id and a commission map with the others.

I actually salute Bell for doing what she does. If she listened to you people she will stay in her office and lock her door like Sorenson did for 16 years.

Lynda does not like to make a statement; she likes to make a difference.

My neighbors and I met with Sorenson three times to get a small project on the county right of way done, but for two years "ZERO" was done.

Lynda had it done within a week of two of us meeting with her.

Any question??

I’d be interested to know what your “small project on the County right-of-way” was. Must have been a bad idea, which is why Bell helped you do it. Bell can’t hold a candle to Sorenson, especially when it comes to ethics and smarts.

Anonymous Lynda Lover, you are calling us "you People" that is against blog rules.

I don't recall ever having any issue with getting an appointment when Commissioner Sorensen was in office. Her aides were great as well and educated within the county and our district.

I do know she, Sorensen, didn't use her office or advertise all over the place as a stepping stone for re election. She was more involved in the community and I saw her at a lot of community events as well without some big headline somewhere.

The difference being, Commissioner Sorensen didn't have to use social media to get every second of her schedule to the public. She suited up and showed up. She didn't give lip service she really did cares and continues to care about this community.

Look at where she's at and what she's doing now. She could have easily moved in to another public service position and didn't. She truly does this community a great service with her Good Governance projects.

I miss her to this day as our Commissioner. Class and dignity is not something you can use taxpayer dollars to create. One either has it or they don't.

Bell doesn't even come close. Just because her current inept staff gets stuff done it doesn't mean it wasn't at the expense of something else or bullying some department which I assure you is something all too common in the current Dist. 8 office.

To even put the two names and compare them is offensive. Bell is miles behind and will remain a puppet of her handlers or her own stupidity. Everything Bell does is to get re elected using our tax dollars at the same time. It's long past due to get rid of these non salary, non office expense slush funds each commissioner uses. It's the worst use of tax dollars I can think of.

Lynda's Evil.

Can we pretty please tag this to the Barf meter? I always think of Deliverance when I see her photo, unless it's photo shopped with a copy of an Ayn Rand book - yes, I remember that photo too!

Anonymous said...

Maybe NAtacha, Dorrin and Joe can find a good place for Bell in the private sector.

Miss-guided Lynda's gonna card all the kids who appear at the door of her fine Homestead home at Halloween.

Geniusofdespair said...

The Ayn Rand book was her choice it was not photoshopped by me. I took your advice reader and added barf.

Anonymous said...

Genius, I didn't mean you photo shopped - I should have written air brushed glamor shot photo about her to be exact! The picture I was referring to was the library one though!

Thanks for putting the Barf tag on, she truly is deserving of the prize!

Why does no one complain when that dysfunctional Mayor in Miami Lakes does a Turkey giveaway? He pulls this same BS in a community that is not beset by poverty and gets applauded for his compassion. Hopefully he will be out of office by Thanksgiving and can go stand in line for one of Lynda's turkeys.

I know which photo...she chose the book which was telling about her.
