Rep. District 117: Lies Abound. By Geniusofdespair

First off, vote for Carmen Morris. Here is why.

Carmen Morris running for the the District 117 seat has among her credentials an endorsement from former Congresswoman Carrie Meek. Within the district, the Congresswoman is widely respected for her 24 years of public service and the fact she was one of the first African-American legislator to represent Florida in Congress since the Civil War.

Ms. Meek is so special in fact, that two other candidates (Morris and McGhee) claim her endorsement in the race. But, only one has the endorsement documentation. In the world of politics and campaigns, it is not unusual to see candidates stretch the truth, however, what is weird is the fact that McGhee will not back off his claims when confronted about them.

Carmen Morris is being mentored by Ms. Meek. She meets with Ms. Meek weekly to draw her on political experience. Carmen has an endorsement card signed by Ms. Meek and a letter (posted above).

After the Miami Herald interview (Carmen got the Herald Endorsement) during which another candidate in District 117 and McGhee claimed Ms. Meek’s support. Bewildered by the claims, Carmen received another endorsement letter from Ms. Meek. This time the letter firmly states that she has given the endorsement to the Carmen Morris campaign.

Yet, McGhee, is still fixated on that endorsement. He just recently did a press release stating that Meek endorsed him. McGhee is not a stranger to controversy; he produced a campaign piece with pictures of local pastors on one side and political women on the other. Meeks was included in the crowd. The only issue is, some of the people claim they never gave permission (Meek was surprised) to have their likeness used in his piece, and within a church community it is a serious problem for the pastors to have endorsed a candidate.

There are many questions about Kionne L. McGhee.

Does he really live in District 117 in South Dade? His home in North Dade has the Homestead exemption. He claims he is voting down south. How can that be?

He also moved his office further north in March, so if he is living in South Dade, he added some more time to that daily commute. Doesn’t it make sense to move your office closer to home, rather than further? Why would he run in South Dade when he homesteads in North Dade?

Why did he abruptly leave the State Attorney’s office where he was recently working? Is he considered eligible for rehire? Why doesn’t his former boss Fernandez Rundle support him? And why did city of Miami Commissioner Michelle Spence Jones give him a donation?

McGhee claims to support public schools, at the same time he is taking campaign charter school money and was looking into buying one.

There is more to McGhee’s story than the one he hypes. If he lies about the little things, I can’t wait to see what the story is on the big things.

Carrie Meek, Mrs. LBA as county commissioner and beyond, is a bellwether? The urban landscape of Miami is the way it is, because of the deal making that Mrs. LBA embraced and carried on by her successors. History don't matter cuz nobody reports it.

that guy is dancing around all over the truth in the meetings. he talks and talks about himself. must have an ego the size of a barn.

I think you have Carrie Meek mixed up with another county commissioner. Meek never sat on the commission.

The problem with politics is that individuals will lie for any reason and in most cases, there is no where for the public to go to valid their claims. In addition, there is no enforcement to protect voters from politicians who are self serving.

That's where Kathy "Swag" Rundle and Let 'em Go Joe come in.
Then they accept all bullsh*t stories and possible theories offered by the offending parties.

Don't you remember Carrie Meek's involvement in the Poinciana development scam? The one in which when she was given a Cadillac Escalade and free rent for her foundation to allegedly lobby her congressman son for a con artist? The evidence showed she is a liar and a crook. I am not in that district, but I would vote against anyone with Carrie Meek's endorsement. She is an icon among poor uneducated people who don't know any better.

Then why does McGhee care about the endorsement? Wants to distract voters from the real issues about him.

This man is lying about how he lives, he claims he lives in leisure city. His address is 29020 sw 144 ave, unfortunately another family is claiming homestead on the property. The property appraiser better reassess that house. It is 1 bed room and one would have to assume that if McGhee and his family lives there it has to be very crowded in the bedroom.

He is afraid to run against Cynthia Stafford for one. His single plank platform assumes thet the entire District 117 is comprised of convicted felons in need of civil rights restoration. Why did he accept money and the endorsement of the UTD whose educators mislabled him, suspended him hundreds of times and said he would amount to nothing. By his own admission, is he a convicted felon as he claims or an adjudicated delinquent? Glad Pinnhocio is just a story!

Almost none of the state rep candidates live in the district. Remember a few months ago when Alex Diaz de la Portilla was running for Gwen Margolis' state senate seat in North Dade/South Broward? He then switched to the state rep seat in Coconut Grove. How could he live in both districts? Nearly all of these candidates shop around for the best opportunity and the rules permit it.

McGhee is a very inspiring speaker. Can anyone vouch for his personal integrity?

With redistricting this year, some candidates were running and then the next day they woke up in a new district. Many of these offices have permission to move to the district before taking office.

Go to the property tax website, check Kionne McGhee, and see the address. Go to the State of Florida Elections Department and notice the address listed. Which address is valid?

well, I certainly hope that everyone in the household don't sleep in the same bed. 1 bedroom house: Mcghee, wife, kids, and the Mr and Mrs homeowner. Too close for comfort.

Kionne McGhee Is a good person, he’s a loving father and a hard worker for the COMMUNITY. He ran for state Rep. in 2010 and came close to defeating the incumbent. This time he will WIN, and fight for the people that get over look living in poorest of South Dade neighborhoods.

"Kionne McGhee is a good person....." Really?

Does a good person live 30 miles from the district he wants to represent?

Does a good person claim a Homestead Exemption on NW 47th Terrace, in District 109 and then register to vote at SW 144 Avenue in District 117?

Does a good person calm to have sold 40,000 copies of a book @ $20 a pop, but it doesn't show up on his financial disclosure statement?

I really hope for the people and voters of District 117 that McGhee doesn't make it to Tallahassee, because he will ensure that his personal desires are satisfied at the expense of his constituents!

Kionne McGhee has devoted his life to fighting for the rights of the less fortunate people all over Dade County. He was raised in the ghettos of South Dade; he has seen the struggles of his community first hand. He is not running just to run; he has a vision to take South Dade to higher heights. I believe in this candidate, more so than the others that are running. No man is perfect, but kionnie is not the man so many are painting him out to be, and if elected. He will be a much better Rep. than the current one that only got the job because of him mom and dad.
