Luis Garcia will be in a runoff with Bruno Barreiro. By Geniusofdespair

County Commissioner Bruno Barreiro was 12 votes shy of the 50% he needed to win his seat once again. He didn't pick up enough with the provisional ballot count today. Bruno Barreiro is now at 7,798 votes or 49.95%. Bruno is 9 votes short of reaching the required 50%. Give Luis Garcia some money in a few days (see if there is a recount first).

Dare we hope?

No recount, there would have to be less than a half percent between two opponents for that to occur.

Luis deserves to lose. Braman puppet. Lost all respect for him. Rather go wih Bruno who sucks big time as well. What a shitty choice we have between the 2.Can we find someone ele to run against this clown next time?

You need at least 100,000 to compete in a county wide commission race. Thats the major setback keeping most people from running. You need braman's money.

I'll take a Braman Puppet over a Totaly Dimwit any day.

I would rather have Luis beholden to one guy than Bruno who is beholden to developers and gambling interests. Do you know that Bruno gets up to $5,000 from developers like Shoma and Century. How is that better????

Time to get rid of dead wood and corrupt politicians who use absentee ballots to win over and over again. Vote for Luis Garcia!

Then term limits for commissioners. That should clear the commission every 8 years.

Thank goodness we re-elected Mayor Carlos Gimenez. We will see real and permanent change soon and regain respect for our community.

It's time for change and this time we have a candidate who is a hard worker and has a wide record of honesty. We already have had a lot of Bruno Barreiro, he deserves to rest for a while and enjoy his family.

This is a waste of time an money. Barreiro should request and pay for a recount. Maybe he can avoid a runoff if he picks up a few more undervotes. And regardless, in a runoff, while its theoretically possible, in reality Garcia cannot go from 35% to 51%.
Sorry. Better luck next time.

Garcia can win in a runoff. There is the other 50.1% out there.

Remember, there were two other candidates in this race ( total of 4). If the votes of the people that voted for the other two, who obviously didn't want Bruno, would have gone to Luis, he would have taken this seat. ...not to mention that there was another opponent named Garcia in this race which could have caused some confusion. 19 % voter turnout in the summer will turn into at least 40% ++ during the Presidential election. I don't think there are enough votes in the ALF's that the Barreiro family owns (read: people in comas and Alzheimer sufferers) for them to buy there way out of this one. 14 years in office is quite enough. This is not the Supreme Court!

what about Garcia hiring Tirador?? something stinks.

I agree what a shitty choice we have. Go with the old man. Put Bruno out for good.

Bruno shut down all of his county offices for two weeks and gave his staff a paid holiday on the tax payer's dime to work his campaign and escort elderly voters into the ballot box and fill out the ballot for them. Now THAT stinks! Check out CBS 4 investigation on line. This guy ( or his mother) will do anything to keep him in office, after all, he does receive $33,000.00 per year from his slush fund to rent out space in his own family's building under the guise of a "district office". I wonder who's pocket that $$$ ends up in. Just the tip of the iceberg regarding this opportunist.

Bruno the Dim will lose in November. A 75% turnout in a presidential year will dilute the block voting of the M-D unions. The new 55% of voters who did not vote in the primary will vote 2-1 for Garcia and against Bruno because of their distaste for the commission as a whole.Hopefully Braman will run ads against Bruno.

Anon above, do some research before you make a statement like "block voting of the M-D union." IAFF and SEIU both endorsed Luis Garcia. Others may have too but those are the only ones I can find right now.

Voters need some real reporting on the candidates records and accomplishments. Let's make this a real campaign. Challenge to insiders: post on eye on Miami what you know.

Dim Bruno has to go.

The key to this election will be how absentees ballots will be monitor be federal and stae official. Stake out ALF's the day fter ballots are mailed.

It was the idiot Bruno who made the motion to approve the Marlin's getting over $3 BILLION of the taxpayers money. Over $3 BILLION when you include the required interest payments. When the bonds get re-financed the costs will increase.

Vote for Luis Garcia.
