The rumors are flying today. I heard County Commissioner Xavier Suarez is going to run for Mayor and that County Commissioner Joe Martinez will drop out of the Mayor's race and run for Property Appraiser. Any truth to these rumors?

Martinez would have a decent shot at Property Appraiser. He has zero chance of being elected Mayor. Smart move for him.
Joe is not dropping out of the race for Mayor. In fact, nothing will deter him from running.
There are many things that make Joe a better candidate than Carlos.
Joe has something Carlos don't have, a personality!
Joe has charisma!
Yes folks, you heard it here first, Carlos has the personality of a slug! He is rude, shroud, and generally unlinked.
He treats people like dogs.
Generally when you see a Mayor in the streets you tend to go up to him, take a picture, tell what a good job he's doing. But when Carlos comes around people turn their backs and hide.
I have never seen that kind of reaction to a Mayor.
Not even Carlos Alvarez got that kind of response from people and he was ousted.
No, I firmly believe Joe Martinez will be Mayor of Miami-Dade County come November...
Carlos has always been polite to me, Joe is a bully. He might treat you good because you agree with him or, more likely, are working on Joe's campaign reader 2 above.
We went from one extreme to another with Gimenez. Alvarez was disconnected and Gimebez wants to be Mayor and Commissioner. He is forgeting separation of powers and is using the media to dictate his platform.
One can complain about Penelas but he knew how to work with the Board and get his agenda through without arrogance and the employees were happy to come to work.
Gimenez has created a negative working environment.
Alex Penelas and Carlos Alvarez were dopes. Corrupt too. Gimenez inherited 27,000 employees when there should be only 23,000. County employees are generally overpaid and they get excessive benefits. Gimenez needs to terminate all unfilled positions and fire another 3,000+ employees.
Commissioners do not look out for the long term best interests of the taxpayers.

There is no way Martinez is not running for Mayor.
I heard Suarez want to be the next BCC Chair.
I wouldn't underestimate Martinez' chances. From the talk around the coffee shop there are more people than I expected helping him out.

If Joe said he would get rid of all the Burgess/Alvarez cronies, I would vote for him in a heartbeat.

Carlos Gimenez has not honored his campaign pledge to enforce the existing Code against illegal LED billboards.
Joe Martinez needs to get on the anti-billboard bandwagon.
