Rick Santorum Embarrasses America ... by gimleteye

"Rick Santorum accused the Obama administration of stifling energy development and the economy through its "radical environmental policies," as he courted coal country voters in this key Super Tuesday prize. Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd of roughly 500, swelled by students from nearby Franciscan University of Steubenville, Mr. Santorum contended that global warming was a product of "phony studies" and "political science" driven by an ideology that puts the Earth before human beings."

Christians like Santorum believe ardently in the Second Coming when all will be destroyed. These same Christians advocate and agitate for anti-environmental policies that will speed jeopardy to the very people whose souls Christians are determined to save. Compassion for the poor and helpless, in other words what Christ believed, is whatever the anti-environmentalists want it to be.

Global warming is real. It is creating a nightmare for the world's poorest and lowest-lying nations today. Santorum and apparently a majority of Republicans voting in the presidential primary cherry-pick science. It is a national embarrassment.

For doubters and skeptics of global warming who haven't already made up their mind, this link might help ignite resolve to reform the Republican Party and its rabidly anti-environmental agenda that is masked as "jobs, jobs, jobs". One shouldn't need to explain what is going to happen to "jobs" in places like Miami, virtually at sea level, when the real impacts of climate change hit. "How We Know Global Warming Is Real And Human Caused" by Donald R. Prothero.

He earned M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees in geological sciences from Columbia University in 1982, and a B.A. in geology and biology (highest honors, Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of California, Riverside. He is currently the author, co-author, editor, or co-editor of 32 books and over 250 scientific papers, including five leading geology textbooks and five trade books as well as edited symposium volumes and other technical works. He is on the editorial board of Skeptic magazine, and in the past has served as an associate or technical editor for GeologyPaleobiology and Journal of Paleontology. Global warming/climate change is at best an unproven theory. Remember the idea of the expansion of planet earth? How about the "proof" of the existence of planet Vulcan? Renowned scientists such as Albert Einatein passionately defended the theory of a static universe ... All were proven wrong. The scientific community is much divided in this current man-made warming controversy.

Catholics like Santorum that take a hard line toward environmentalism in no way represent Church teachings on the responsibility that man has for good stewardship of the earth's resources.

For a better take on this, try the British philosopher Roger Scruton.

It would be a big mistake for American environmentalists to conflate Christian values with anti-environmentalism. A better approach would be to emphasize the ideology that appears to be impervious to reason.

According to Forbes as of late 2011, most Americans believe that man-made global warming is a hoax. It has not been presented well to average Americans. It is perceived as a left-fringe extremista idea by many.

Let me guess, you get some of that money that Al Gore is making through his global warming hoax.

Your GUESS is so far off. Gimleteye was on Harvey Ruvin's climate change task force with many scientists. They volunteered their time to study the reprocussions on Miami DAde County of sea level rise.

Not everyone operates under a profit motive.

I thought Santorum was a Catholic.

If so, then why is he arguing with the Pope on this? The Pope recently called on the international community to protect the world's poor when crafting a carbon reduction treaty in South Africa. Nearly a year ago the Vatican had a "call to action" against human induced climate change. Does Santorum follow church teachings or not?

Santorum also disputes darwinian evolution, which even the Catholic Church has accepted for the last 16 years.

I am deeply concerned that the Diaz de La Portilla brothers will be riding back into Tallahassee again.
Some blogger described them as sweet and kind? I hope that was a sarcastic comment. I find it more like “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. Well, to be fair, from a purely physical stand point. I must admit ugly is inaccurate which makes them even worse.
Let’s examine them just giggles. Ex- Senator Alex Diaz de La Portilla, Former Majority Leader of the Florida Senate. Do you think he achieved this due to his sweetness and kind nature? That’s not the way politics works. People seem to forget that he has served as a human incubator for dozens of State Legislators that are secretly beholden to him. He is known for his diplomacy and charisma. If you ask around you will see he passed all his bills with not so much as touching a microphone. Not too shabby right?
I think we should also keep in mind that sweet brother Alex, is a very savvy and sought after
Political consultant. The guy just won the election for Miami-Dade Mayor, Carlos Gimenez, and the election was less than a year ago. Think he is going to have any problem raising mad money-heck no.
Let me give you a quick glimpse at brother number two. Senator Miguel Diaz de La Portilla, Known for not taking prisoners. This highly ambitious and gifted attorney is a ferocious in your face debater that will protect his brothers at all cost. To Boot, the man is a gifted kick boxer and highly astute at mental jujitsu. I recall him wielding his power quit well against Penelas while he served in the Commission. Let’s remember when he screwed us out of the Penny tax when we could afford it and now we have to endure terrible traffic.
And please let us not forget the younger brother, School Board Commissioner, Reiner Diaz de La Portilla. The man seems so harmless, sweet, and yes even kind. Well, guess what? He is also a ruthless attorney and Cornell Alumni. I am so sick of all the dumb rumors that have been printed for over two decades. You know why? These Republican “Band of Brothers”. Have amassed so many Lackeys in our States Capital that nobody can even rival them. If I were a betting man and I am not. I would place my bet on them pulling it off again. I can just see the Republican establishment rejoicing.” Behold the prodigal’s son’s return” and they will throw a big party and kiss their respective rings in honor of their latest victory.

Have you ever noticed that these brothers almost always get what they want?
It’s like they wave a magic wand and cast a spell on all their cronies. Heck, how many legislators owe them favors? Dozens at least: Rep. Erik Fressen, Rep, Nunez, Lopez-Cantera, Senator Bogdanoff, and the new crop like Rep. Artilles and many more. Who now idolize them and imitate their mafia style they love to exude “La Famiglia”. It is so disgusting to watch.

Mark my words the Diaz de La Portilla brothers are planning to take over every powerful post in The State Capital
And all significant committee assignments in Florida are going to be divided between them and their groupies.
Democrats time to leave the state. These are not just rumors. It was brought to my attention by some Republican lobbyist. Amongst, the many stunts they pulled, they deliberately left all the lobbyist out of their very personal events during Big Brother Miguel’s swearing in. It was supposed to be a statement “those who opposed them would be unwelcomed”. So again, my fellow Democrats Florida is already gone.
