How do rich people vent? With full page ads. By Geniusofdespair

You can't blame these rich people for getting annoyed at nouveau rich guy Jorge Perez for snagging the name of the soon to be built Miami Art Museum. The funny part is that the rich are trying to arouse us, the riff-raff, to rise up and care with a full page ad in the Miami Herald.  Like I am going to call someone and say: "Hey, don't name the museum after Jorge" because they placed an ad. Note to rich art patron people: I have better things to do. You should have used the ad money to throw a party for us and got us drunk and then MAYBE we would have made those calls for you.

Rich people, do some things with us low-life people once in a while then maybe we will care about the stupid name of your museum. Where were you today during the UDB hearing? Don't care, do you?

Truthfully I am glad you are going to be saddled with that crappy Jorge Perez name on your art museum. Serves you right for letting him into your little club just because he has money. You might note we have a category for Jorge Perez on this blog -- none for you Mary and Howard Frank, which makes you lucky I guess.

Marty Margulies must be laughing his ass off, he wasn't too fond of the way he was treated by MAM folks.

Unfortunately, the ad is illegible when you click on it. Can you post a higher resolution copy?

Perez is a joke, whose fortune was rescued from the real estate crash by forgiving banks backed up by taxpayer dollars. He recently made a few million, thanks to a Genting deal for the Omni property. Where is 60 Minutes, when you need it? I hear Morley Safer is in town. Maybe he should look up Mr. Perez and have staff do a check on the facts.

I can read it on my iPhone so it is fine, I just tested it. It is 100 dpi and 8 inches wide. You shouldn't be having a problem.

Where we're these rich people when the cultural center we taxpayers funded was plastered with the crass sunglass hut founder's name and banker Arsht?

well not all people have iphone or can read the article. it's too small to read on my computer screen, and I have a 32 inch monitor. i would love to see what the fuss is all about.

I had to download the image to see what the fuss is about. Well They do have a point. I really don,t care if the people that are complaining are rich or not, but they have a point. Another thing, why do you loathe the rich? As long as they provided a product or service that people voluntarily by, we should be cheering them/ especially if they decide to return to the community by donating their time and money to the arts community. I just don't understand the envy and hatred that some people have towards financially successful people.

I'm not totally sure of the point of your post? You're upset with the Franks?
for asking people to get involved?
Or because they're only involved in an issue that they feel is important to them?
Ad aside, if someone asked your feelings on naming this public bldg after Perez, what would your response be?

Man, I think I was loud and clear. I don't think Perez deserves a shrine at any price but I have bigger fish to fry. Let the rich people fight it out

You have to hit on the graphic and it will enlarge on a new page. Or drag it off the blog once enlarged and look at from your computer. It will be bigger that way. Or buy the damn Miami Herald.

Genius,
We are not riff-raff, including you. We have jobs and a reasonable income. The rich are not to be disdained. Many worked very hard to get there, others got lucky or inherited. Who knows. But they are not despicable people. Many "rich" people contribute heavily towards their communities. Look at Alvah Chapman, Don Carlin, Mary Margulies.
I agree that naming the museum after Perez is not good for the city. I praise the board members who walked off the board because of this, and I praise Mary Frank for using her money to bring out her point of view and invite others to take action.
Far better than a lot of entitled lazy bums that bitch about their government and community and don't even get off their fat asses to vote during an election.
Think about it.

Marty not Mary.

The rest, the rich don't seem to care about helping anything I care about...except Paul Tudor Jones.
