Are Downtown Miami Ads Reproducing at An Alarming Rate? By Geniusofdespair

Every time I drive downtown I see more ads. I always saw a bunch going East to Miami Beach but going North and South is now littered with ads, I reported on the one for a TV show on the City of Miami Building MRC last week. Today the The Miami Herald showed a big ad on the American Airlines Arena for Goya foods. Have we no shame? Shouldn't the Goya ad proceeds go into county coffers since taxpayers own the land the Arena is on!

Here are other buidings draped in ads I saw from I95 yesterday (should we boycott these products?):

Look, lobbyists need some way to make money now there's no money to be made building ticky tacky houses.

The ads are horrendous. They make Miami look like a ghetto in Hallandale. Or maybe a shantytown in Mexico City, right before a massacre.

Marc Sarnoff is quoted as saying, "The City needs the revenues from the illegal mural ads". Hello. If Sarnoff cared he would give up the 24/7 taxpayer owned SUV and $140,000 driver he demands. Sarnoff must think he is Hugo Chavez.

Sarnoff? The City under your leadership is losing $1 mil a week, you really need the taxpayers to pay for your 24/7 limo service AND pay your $800 per month BMW allowance?

Putting ads on everything in sight is tacky and small minded. Tacky and small minded like so many of the elected officials who do the bidding of the outdoor advertising industry.

Lowlife ads for $4.99 pizza is hardly a case for free speech.

For the record, courts have ruled numerous times that municipalities can ban billboards.

To Real AnthonyVOP,
Courts nationwide have ruled that local governments have the right to BAN billboards.

Over 300 municipalities in the State of Florida have banned billboards.

Ads on billboards do not qualify.

If you say "pleezee" and "get a life" in the same comment congratulations! You are deemed too annoying for this blog and have been deleted.

Jim Crow laws were also approved by courts and implemented by local governments.

Funny how Campaign adds are sacrosanct. I don't see any difference between an add for erectile dysfunction pills and an ad to vote for a Liberal.
They are both just selling you a way to feel good about yourself but only for a short time.

Disgusting glaring blinking LED billboards with their changing every 6 seconds ads for $4.99 pizza, Dominican Republic vacations, Indian casinos... There only intent is to distract speeding drivers. Drivers doing 50-60 navigating busy highways.
