Rumor has it he was supposed to endorse GIMENEZ until he saw a poll, late last night. No coincidence that ALL OF A SUDDEN there was a scheduling issue.

A pole? Uncle Luke shown a pole? You mean he will be bringing a Pole to County Hall for Gimenez and staff?

All kidding aside, an Uncle Luke endorsement is a double edged sword my friends. He DOES NOT represent the African American Community. However, HE DOES have the best parties!

Looks like Robaina is leading if the 2 Live Crew guy backed down.

I am a father with a daughter, and after looking at some of Luke's videos on You Tube, I wondered why the Gimenez campaign thought it was a good idea? Nothing against Luke or 2 Live crew, just a bit confused at this endorsement. When I got the email from Gimenez's campaign on the Luke endorsement, it stunned me.

The best thing for Gimenez was to postpone this press conference.

For the record: My older son likes Luke, but I will be mortified if my daughter goes down that path.

His endorsement could be decisive for whoever gets it. 20,000 votes in this election is nothing to joke around with. The voters who voted for him obviously liked his sexually-explicit works. Interestingly, they could make the call in this race. In a novel, where reader interest is key, maybe yes. But it is just another REAL Miami story.

I agree it possibly could, however, is'nt Gimenez the politician who talks about family values in his literature? Does he really want to sell his soul to be Mayor, to get an endorsement from a character like Luther Campbell? He would have been better off with the other one, Roosevelt Bradley, or a serious community leader. I am new to all this here in Miami, I just think endorsements generally reflect the type of people you share some common interest, socialize or have a relationship with at some point in your life.

More power to Gimenez for accepting the endorsement.I am conflicted to what it means in terms of Gimenez's character. You cannot be pro family and at the same time accept an anti-family endorser.

Oh come on, like taking an endorsement is going to change your character. Campbell is not anti-family. You obviously are not black.

Last poster: you are a total putz. We don't Luke you either

Robaina has that racist Arza working for him an advising him, who made racist remarks against Rudy Crew. Why would any black vote for Rabaina if this is who he associates with?

We have to face reality. In a race like this, your chances of winning are greater with Luther than without him. Numbers are what matters in this contest. People change, grow-up, and mature over time. No one stays the same. By running, Luther demonstrated his concern with civic affairs, and he is now in a decisive position to impact those affairs. We will see what he does.
Bradley had a small number of votes. It is unclear why he ran. Support or non-support from him would probably not have much effect.

Do you have a link for the Azra racist remarks?

In 2006, then-state Rep. Ralph Arza of Hialeah was accused by another Cuban-American state legislator, Bruno Barreiro, of calling the Miami-Dade schools superintendent a "nigger." Arza was also investigated by a House ethics committee for allegedly calling the schools chief a "negro mierda," which translates to "black piece of shit." Arza denied making the racial slurs, but he subsequently resigned and was criminally charged for making threatening phone calls to Barreiro for snitching. In one of the calls, Arza said, "You ain't nothing but a bitch, brother, my nigger."

Well, I hope there were no "Financial Incentives" from the other side, which might have caused him to suddenly get Cold Feet.

Campbell is already a millionaire. Selling sexual images has made him rich. He doesn't need two pennies here and there like the others.

Geniusofdespair said...

He is not a millionaire. He put his net worth as about $600,000 in the financial disclosure form to run for mayor.

Just think, Genius. If Robaina wins, you'll have something to kvetch about for the next 18 months.

Gimenez, needs to evaluate his campaign staff. How could they have dropped the ball? If they did not have Luther Campbell's written endorsement why schedule a press conference. Is this what we are to expect from Gimenez if he is elected Mayor. Some one needs to be fired.

At the end of the day, it may mean a couple of thousand votes that's all.

Do you think there will be a boomerang reaction with extreme right? 2 LIve Crew guy, gambling thing, investigation thing?

Gimenez said Luther Campbell gave him his endorsement with a handshake and while looking him in the eye. Campbell is clearly not an honorable person.
