Who will be the new STRONG Mayor of Miami Dade County? By Geniusofdespair

And yes, I am tired of people stealing my images.

I went to dinner last night with a friend from New York who likes Michele Bachmann. Scary. I didn't know I knew anyone with that kind of...let's politely call it 'bad taste'.

gross looking men all of them
if it were a beauty contest, Marcello Llorente and Gabrielle Redfern would be first and second place

Very very funny.

Then we are fortunate that this isn't a beauty contest.

I think it's time to disclose that Alex Diaz de la Portilla is doing the Carlos Gimenez campaign... and if that doesn't convince you of WHO Carlos Gimenez IS, I feel sorry for you. Last night I was asked who was getting my vote, I replied that maybe I wasn't going to vote BECAUSE THERE'S NOT A SINGLE CANDIDATE THAT I TRUST. And then, my daughter, coyly reminded that I must, at least, cast a protest vote. I agreed with her, so I will be voting for Luther!

I feel your pain last anon. It is a very tough decision. I wish Gimenez focused more on my issues.** I looked at the 11 and feel as though I made my best choice out of them all. This is no time for a protest vote because that will assure a victory for Robaina who has EVEN worse advisors than Alex (who I hate as well ). So use your vote wisely. They say Armando Gutierrez is running the show at the City of Miami instead of the actual mayor. But if Gimenez is Mayor -- he will be in charge. He is a strong personality and he will listen perhaps to Alex-- but Gimenez will make the hard choices, Alex will not.

**This is what I want him to say:

Miami Dade County is home to two National Parks. Our unique environment is the reason people want to come to Miami to live and tourism is one of our biggest industries bringing in about 10 millions visitors annually contributing billions of dollars in revenue. I want our residents and tourists to have clean water to drink, I will keep the aquifer safe (we are the only county with a aquifer (maybe parts of Broward??). I want them to be able to swim is Biscayne Bay. I want them to be able to eat fruits and vegetables from the only subtropical farms in the continental United States -- in Miami-Dade. Miami Dade's environment is important to me. Miami Dade County is sandwiched between the coast and a National Park that happens to provide our drinking water. Both are important to me.

Agreed - no time for protest vote. I have a great deal of respect for a few of those back runners, but they are battling machinery that is incredibly overwhelming.

I hope all candidates who do not make it through round one understand the importance of endorsing the best of the remaining two, regardless of personal feelings. This is a noble thing to do, and it has nothing to do with likes or dislikes.

To the Anon 3 steps above ----- You must be from the Robaina campaign or a close allied.

Have you driven lately around Hialeah? Seen all the red light cameras that mayor Robaina has installed around our city in just a few months? Walked around our East Hialeah neighborhoods? Did you know he could not even count 15 flamingos when there were close to 400? Did you know about the property he owed property taxes on? Have you read the news lately? Want to hear how Robaina speaks to an average citizen at a council meeting? Ask the city attorney a question and Robaina will tell you, "first the questions come through me and then I will tell you who answers them." (It's all in public records).

Carlos Gimenez may have a few points some of us dislike, but at least he has been approachable and more apt to listen. The mayor's seat is currently running for only 18 months. Mayor Robaina still had through 2013 to stay as mayor of Hialeah - he has chosen to leave.

18 months - Let's give Gimenez a chance and see what he can do inthat time.

And for you, why do remain anonymous? If you are going to spill some beans, spill them with gutts.
