Who is going to vote today? by gimleteye

Low voter turnout is expected for today's county mayor and district 7. The question: will voters be just angry and indifferent-- staying home-- or motivated on behalf of one candidate or another? With so many feeling disenfranchised -- the revolving door, negative campaigning, and a stinking economic mess-- there are powerful reasons to stay home. A small number of voters, then, will be left to sweep up the popular outrage that turned out a county mayor and a county commissioner only a few months ago.

There is one overriding observation of both the recall and the performance of the legislature and the county commission, since Gov. Scott and the legislature moved on their highly partisan agenda on behalf of special interests: the Golden Rule is in full effect.

NO ONE is going to vote today, Gimlet, except those inside a political machine who have already been paid for those votes. And you know why? There's not a single decent candidate capable of motivating me to waste the very expensive gasoline in my car tank. This comment illustrates the situation well:
"
What we need is DECENT people in government. Empty polls? Look around and try to find a decent candidate among all these losers and you'll see the lack of inspiration in the people to go out and vote. Everyone feels we'll be voting to perpetuate the same problems we've had until now. A good example: There was a chance to correct the Jackson problem and what happened? Migoya got the hight paying job -- totally undeserved-- and suddenly Joe Arriola reappears from nowhere -- what is he doing in that board when he deserves to be in trash can?"
When the Pinos, the Barretos, the Cancelas and the Jeb Bush followers move away from this county -- and they don't continue to corrput our system of government to suit their own purposes -- then, a vote might be worth something. In the meantime, even if I go out and vote, I will not change anything, and don't come up with more bullshit because this is the way it is!

In the end, what will the recall pushed by Braman accomplish? Nothing!! We re-arranged a few chairs. Want better candidates? Be willing to pay them more than the 1957 wages they get. Want services? Realize that your tax money has to pay for them. If not, the voters in MD get the county government it deserves.

You took credit for the recall. Will you accept the responsibility when this all blows up in your face?
