Mayor Election - Some areas are more apathetic than others. By geniusofdespair

To give you an idea about how bad turnout was in some precincts, in Precinct 984, 47 voters, out of 955, voted (less than 5%). Yet Precinct 113 had an 18.38% turnout and some precincts in Hialeah averaged 30%. Precinct 178 had a 66.67% turnout but there are only 3 voters in that precinct. My precinct had a 10% turnout. Hialeah's 30% turnout, do you think it is thanks to all the senior housing and lunch/breakfast programs?

I am only going to look at larger precincts in this cursory survey. And yes there are precincts with only 1 voter (562 for example). Precinct 905 has 6,251 voters in it but only 498 voted. What makes some precincts turn out great numbers (Hialeah) and other dismal numbers (Sunny Isles Beach) is a good question. One answer, having a convenient polling place (like inside an apartment building - Point East below) does increase the numbers.

Large Precincts to watch because of low turnout:

Precinct/Percent Voting/Area of Polling Place
004 - 6.80% Sunny Isles Beach
043 - 5.95% Miami Beach
067 - 7.78% Sunny Isles Beach
123 - 7.41% North Miami Beach
145 - 4.74% North Miami
167 - 7.68% Miami (22800 SW 112 Ave.)
209 - 6.82% Miami (20770 NE 14 Ave.)
355 - 9.57% Miami (6500 NW 202 St.)
462 - 6.95% Doral
501 - 8.54% Miami (514 NW 77 St.)
529 - 8.75% Miami (3220 NW 7 Ave.)
534 - 5.23% Miami (1901 North Miami Avenue)
640 - 9.10% Miami (1241 Dickinson Dr.)
774 - 8.19% Miami (9889 Hammocks Blvd.)
827 - 9.00% Miami (19355 SW 114 Ave.)
905 - 7.97% Miami (13550SW 256 St.)
984 - 4.92% Miami (1105 SW 2nd Ave.)

Large Precincts to watch because of high turnout:

Precinct/Percent Voting/Area of Polling Place
015 - 18.82% Miami Beach
032 - 19.29% Miami Beach
113 - 18.38% Point East Condo, Aventura
157 - 18.55% Miami Shores
231 - 18.60% Miami (17701 NW 57 Ave.)
253 - 21.30% Miami (930 NW 95 St.)
301 - 19.34% Miami (7801 NW 178 St.)
314 - 34.94% Hialeah
330 - 36.17% Hialeah
331 - 34.29% Hialeah
361 - 34.09% Hialeah
399 - 36.17% Miami (15155 W 10 St.)
409 - 30.22% Sweetwater
427 - 28.01% West Miami
503 - 35.23% Miami (1407 NW 7th St.)

526 - 19.49% Miami (1901 NW 24 Ave.)
575 - 31.60% Miami (1040 SW 29 Ct.)
617 - 23.51% Coral Gables
837 - 19.09% Miami (16301 SW 80th Ave.)
992 - 33.39% Miami (5849 NW 7 St.)

Hialeah must be the absentee ballot fraud Capitol. I wish elections had an investigator or at least a handwriting expert looking at Hialeah absentee ballots.

Very interesting data . . .

I am in favor of eliminating the way in which absentee ballots are cast. Let's return to the way it was. Absentee ballots are for military personnel, disabled or terminally ill citizens or people who are going to be out of town or live aboard. At the poll, voting should be held Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, every night until 8PM, and that's it.

Precincts near home with ample parking will help.

AND, I believe in educating the younger generation to get them voting in a few years. The rest is a waste of precious resources.

Do they have early voting at FIU or MDC?

Turnout in Hialeah is higher for 3 good reasons. 1. Julio Robaina has a political machine up there. 2. Esteban Bovo has a smaller machine to crank out votes for the Commission 13 race. 3. There was a State House race there too.
Gimemez got better than average turnout because of his machine in the City of Miami, and the overlapping Commission 7 race.
Black turnout was typically bad, but it will be dismal with no Black candidates in the runoff. At least the Seniors (in Point East and other condos) still vote more often than others. The runoff will drop to 10% turnout, which favors Julio Robaina (TBO). Sad.

I agree with the absentee ballot fraud. Could be how Carlos Gimenez got so many votes in Hialeah.

Also, to Genius: Can we get a discussion about the robo-call that denigrates hialeah and its residents?!?!?!! This is huge news!

Not to mention the fact that it was made by a PAC with several ties to Gimenez's campaign!

Huge news? In your dreams Jeff. No more interesting than the PBA ads slamming Gimenez on behalf of Hialeah Julio. We don't want a discussion on your ethically challenged candidate trying to slam Gimenez as well. Go out on you boat or go to a barbecue we aren't falling for your ass kissing of Julio this holiday weekend and trying to make issues out of nothing.
