So here is how you respond to people that ask why Miami-Dade County government hasn't downsized in direct proportion to all of the incorporations in the past 12 years.
Because the number of people living in unincorporated areas of Miami-Dade have actually increased.

Oh yeah, and so much for the argument that so many people are fleeing the state.

Over 10 years...
Keep in mind that the largest rate of growth happened outside of Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe, and Collier Counties. That means that the Legislative and Congressional districts will shift north and west of us. The more conservative southwest coast will have increasing influence, while the growth in Central Florida will be split between Hispanic Democrats (Puerto Ricans and others) and Black Democrats and White Conservative Republicans.
If you thought the last 3 reapportionments were fun, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Amendment 5 promises that the state reapportionment will be done by a court in Tallahassee and not by the Legislature.
