Commissioner Lynda Bell's Final Campaign Report Is In - I Have More Questions Than Answers. By Geniusofdespair

There is a lot missing from the expenses on Miami Dade's District 8 County Commissioner Lynda Bell's report. She didn't really get additional money in the last reporting period she only registered $495 in donations although she amended her earlier report to add $3,500. No one that interesting is on it. In the last report she spent $11,178. Not very much considering all the TV commercials. It makes me believe she had Political Action Committees helping her just like Flinn did but I would like to know the PAC names so I can see who donated. Did she have Republican PAC's helping her? What about Right-to -Life groups? I looked at Gene's PAC and I know who donated there. So with these reports, it is what is missing that intrigues me. Where is the Get-out-the-Vote GOTV? That is the absentee umbrella -- she won the election on absentee ballots. Is that expense folded into another expense? She didn't pay her campaign advisers very much. Who supplemented their fees? Did they donate their time? No because you would see it as IN-KIND. They got paid by someone.

See for yourself what she spent money on...there are 3 more pages if you hit read more. I went from last backwards. (hit the graphic to enlarge it)

This is an excellent example of how the US Supreme Citizen United decision ripples straight through to the local crooks and scumbags, giving a legal umbrella to election disclosure fraud. For that, thank the Bush appointees on the USSC, lead by Justice Roberts. Nauseating.

I agree. That didn't take long did it.

I can not answer most of your questions...but I will tell you no political consultant or lobbyist that is an unpaid advisor on any campaign in South Florida ever goes on any campaign finance report as a in -kind donation...republican - democrat - state or local race. I am not saying if is right or wrong..or legal or not..just trying to be helpful with the facts.

So...are you saying they are paid by SOMEONE that we don't know or they do the work out of kindness or expected favors?

I would for sure say they are NOT doing it for kindness and I have worked on more than 40 campaigns in the last 10 years. But it is perfectly legal to "volunteer" your time without it being in-kind. I have a family and I am not a crook so I can not afford to "volunteer". Love your blog just trying to be helpful. Bottom-line their will be no paper trail to most of the questions you seek. BTW I have no connection to Bell (for or against).

Thank you -- appreciate the info. Although there has to be a paper trail on the commercials...Someone had to pay.

I really liked that guy Harum-Alvarez from the run-off election. He had integrity. I wish that he was on the county commission. Oh well.....old news. Now we have Bell...sigh.

Someone told me that his wife is working for Bell and he handpicked her Chief-of-Staff!!! someone should check into this. That is the answer?!?!?

Genius, you can go to any of the broadcast stations (and Comcast) and ask to see their public file. There will be a section for political advertising and you can see Lynda Bell's request for air time and the disposition of the request. You will be able to see who requested the air time, who placed it and copies of the checks used for payment. If the commercials were paid for by an advertising agency or consultant, then campaign expenses for that agency or consultant should at a very minimum equal the expenditure on ads seen in the public file. If "soft" money is tied to the funding of her TV ads, federal and state law would have been violated.

It is true the consultant's wife is working for Bell but she is using a deferent last name than her husband “Lourdes Alard”.

The consultants wife has always kept her maiden name since marriage. Every buddy that works on campaigns end up being part of the new administration. With all the watchdog groups your wasting your time going thru campaign reports. Believe me i did it on several different campaigns i worked on any information on campaign finance reports can be amended.

The real reason Flinn lost is at the polling stations siding with unions backfired this time. Next time around. negativity not by the candidate but by the people who represent them cause more harm i have seen it this election and many others as i worked those two weeks of early voting.

Everyone just start your info gathering now for the next election get candidates ready back them with proactive not reactive information.

All campaign reports can be ameneded do not waste time.
