Special meeting called by Moss to set recall election date was without a quorum. By Geniusofdespair

Seems like everyone is avoiding this issue. Who didn't show, which is far more interesting to me: Audrey Edmonson, Jean Monestime, Sally Heyman, Rebeca Sosa and Carlos Gimenez. Were these strategic absences? (Pepe Le Pew Diaz, said he would be absent when they planned the meeting.)

On another front, Vanessa Brito's group, Miami Voice, came up 35 signatures short on recalling Barreiro. I would double check what they threw out Vanessa, don't give up yet.

Question: Why is Braman's opinion worth more than mine?

Answer: because he has $$$

now I ask you, is that the American way?

nah, more like Van Gogh

The agenda did not include any of Gimenez's proposals and did not address the Seijas recall. It makes more sense to have both elections at once so this is a good thing. There is a BCC meeting on 1/20 already scheduled.

So does Matisse. j/k

You mean, that Moss contrived it, so ONLY the Alvarez recall would be discussed? LOL. So THEY ARE PLANNING TO HOLD SEPARATE RECALL ELECTIONS, TO PROTECT THEIR OWN? That is just SO shocking. I thought, their goal was to protect the interests of taxpayers? What am I missing!? (LOL)

by jove, me thinks you are missing a brain.

I said: 'Monet talks' when I meant to say: money talks to the first comment. This damn iPhone puts in words haphazardly.

I find it to be most hilarious, when i type 'good morning' sometimes it changes it to 'good morbid' ... was only joshin with the van gogh comment. trying to lighten the mood.

Frankly, regardless of however many elections are held, it is a waste of money. Since Braman has so much time and money on his hands, perhaps he should fund the recall elections. Everyone keeps saying the County is wasteful...an election is quite costly. Opinions aside, is it worth it? You may not be happy with the alternative. There is a reason people say to be careful what you wish for since you just might get it.

Braman has to stop behaving like a controlling old fart. He needs to start a PAC that should be handled by average citizens and NOT HIS BOYS: CANCELA, MARCO RUBIO, AND MIGUEL DIAZ DE LA PORTILLA, THE CROOKS HE FUNDS! The problem with the people of Miami-Dade County is lack of information. They only get what the people who are in charge of news -- on Hispanic radio and TV -- want, and these are the people who sell out to the candidates, and these are the voters that get these crooks elected! Thank God, through the offices of Televisa, Alina Falcon has been pushed out of the assignment bureau, at Univision! It only took 25 years to get rid of her! Hopefully, there will be more heads rolling! That's what we need, a CLEANUP OPERATION!

Ask for a recount and demand to see the signatures that were not counted. Then check them against the voter rolls.

FBI!!

They won't let you look at signatures on voter roles without a court order.

Gimenez's need for power is truly impressive!!! When is Mr. Gimenez and his son going to get investigated for all the crooked shit they have done in the County in regards to the County contracts for clients represented by Gimenez Jr?
What a joke if this guy actually gets elected, I would prefer the idiot we have now instead of a thief. Everyone knows Gimenez is in bed with our biggest problem: The Unions

Anonymous said...

How can you say Gimenez is in bed with the Unions. He voted against all of them and specifically pointed out during the meetings and in the media that it would be irresponsible to promise them raises like the mayor and burgess were doing .

Anonymous said...

So he voted against the unions and made a comment about it being irresponsible to promise the unions a raise during one of the worst financial crisis this country has ever seen. Any idiot can do that, but isn't he an x fire fighter? Didn't he support to increase the pay and benefits for the fire fighters in years past? Please do not give this thief a medal for standing up when the shit hit the fan, where was his leadership prior to this situation? How much is his pension a year for being an x fire fighter? Do you realize that he is retired and will be paid an incredible 6 figure pension yearly for the rest of his life? Also are you aware that if he were to die, that his wife would receive this pension and insurance benefit? What makes Gimenez qualified to run Miami-Dade County, especially during this fiasco of an economy? Please review who his son's clients are and the voting record of the commish...... could be interesting.

Gimenez is a good candidate. He is certainly one of the best we have on the county commission. He deserves respect- even if you disagree with him. Trashing him here is not going to work.

Anonymous said...

Especially when that trashing is based on nothing substantive. All I see are meritless allegations, misrepresentations and worse. Too bad these other candidates have folks out there trying to misrepresent the truth to the detriment to our community. Shame on them.

Wasn't strategic absences as much as it was poor timing. They only had 7 signatures and one was from Pepe. He signed and disclosed that he wouldn't be there (which is a pretty lame thing to do - the point of getting signatures is to guarantee quorum).

Nearly everyone else was out of town for the holiday break. Moss called the meeting for that week because it was the last week he'll be Chair and he could either act or not act and he chose to act.

I am glad that Mr. Through-the-Chair will not be handling this issue as chairman. Moss defends the status quo as he and and his wife earn their livings off the county tax rolls. I have my issues with Martinez, but I don't think Martinez has any affection for Alvarez or Seijas and he will support putting them both on the same recall ballot. No quorum means no end-of-year shenanigans.
