That fraudulent statement is a lie! If Amendment 4 had been Florida law in 2006, then Carrabelle voters would have had the privilege to vote on ONLY 4 -- not 617 ! -- land-use changes to determine our community’s future in the year 2006. Ask him about the Lowe's store? How is that working after 2 years of litigation?
Ask him about the hundreds of thousands of dollars that the Miami River interests, trade associations, mom and pop businesses and Durham Park homeowners Association had to spend in litigation when the City voted changes to the River's land-use policy. The City also spent hundreds of hours of staff time defending their changes.
Emphasize that amendment 4 did not cause job loss, the opponents to amendment 4 did. There are enough already approved building sites to put people in the construction industry back to work as soon as the backlog of houses and foreclosures are off the books. My experience on a zoning/land use board is that people do not object to well planned projects in the right places but they object to the bad, incompatable projects that developers love.
Remind him that currently there is enough approved development in county master plans across the state to increase Florida's population 5 fold and build 13,000 Walmart stores. Our economic engine will be screaming for years, possibly decades to come once we have the economy to back it up.

and does anyone really believe that the development model as we know it in FL is really sustainable for the long term, particularly in light of climate change and sea level rise. FL risks becoming one large overcrowded slum.
The annexed area to Hialeah that moved the UDBLine and our East Hialeah neighborhoods abandoned. The entire county now needs to pay for the reversed osmosis water plant they are going to build there. Had A4 existed then, we THE PEOPLE could have voted against it.
Also - Hialeah Park - God forbid the unscrupulous Hialeah city council should vote to change the land use to residential. We need Amendment 4 to help stop this from every happening.
Ask the poor people who had towering, mixed used building constructed next to their residential single-family homes in Miami how they feel.
