District 8 Election: Taddeo Campaign Report. By Geniusofdespair

Taddeo Campaign report is out, she picked up an additional $19,398 to bring her total to $184,596.57. A lot of the longtime Miami-Dade Democrats are listed like Dave Patlak. Of slight note: Tree Farmer Manuel Diaz, Attorney Carlos Gimenez (son?), Brian May and there are a couple each from The Florida Marlins and Fuentes Group (lobbyists). Fuentes is working with Steve Marin on Pepe Diaz's campaign. Sorry folks, no check to lawyer Stephen Cody on the report.

Best one: Edie Weiner whose occupation is listed as 'Futurist.' There are some problems with the report: Occupations shouldn't be listed as 'CEO' or 'Officer'. You need more on a campaign report. Get cracking treasurer your occupations are too vague. At least the unreformable majority on the County Commission write good occupation descriptions on their reports.

I know that Taddeo may be clueless on the issues but it would incridibly stupid of her or her campaign to actually pay Cody to file the lawsuit against Flinn.

One thing is certain, you do need Big Money to get Cody to work for you.

I'm just saying.

Yep agree we will never know who paid Cody.

Wow! I just googled Edie Weiner to see what is a "futurist" and wow, very impressive.

Annette Taddeo has no reason to have filed the lawsuit against Gene Flinn. Your speculation has grown tiresome.
Why don't you analyze Gene Flinn's new $50,000 in his campaign coffers? What about Obdulio Piedra's Latin Builders laden report?
And the grand puba of them all Pepe Diaz' ridiculous $325,000 + vs. Pernas $600 or Souto's $262,000+ vs. Planas $21,000 or Rolle's $262,491 vs. Monestime 's $36,000.
I'm just saying is all.

One would think that Lynda Bell has Katy Sorenson's endorsement the way she has been using her ribbon cutting photo with her. WTF?

Pepe does good work for the builders and developers and rock miners. Maybe they're lining him up to be the next chair. Little Joe had his turn. Pepe the Great.

To the Anon about Katy name dropping:

All the candidates who have worked with Katy - Mayor Flinn, Mayor Bell and Albert Harum-Alvarez - all milk the Katy connection as much as they can. Granted, some more than others but THEY all use her to their advantage. And who can blame them, Katy is a popular outgoing Commissioner.

However, I do agree that although using her likeness, name dropping her is to be expected, over doing it has the opposite effect.

I agree with Genius when he said that candidates should stand on their own as much as possible. Once in the Commission, they wont have Katy around to hold their hand.

Great job hiring Marin! She paid $60K to Marin and got Third Place. Marin also lost several other races that should have been easy wins. Obviously the tide is turning and Marin has lost his clout in this town.

I think Marin has a huge stink around him - thus hurting candidates more than helping them.

I think the last 2 anons have a point about Marin. He's too much of an insider "wheeler dealer" - the blind endorsement deal he struck with the Unions is a prime example, and it pissed off A LOT of people - but at the end of the day - its all about the candidate.

Somebody commented a while back that he could not figure out what all the hype was about Taddeo. His statement stuck with me. He pointed out that in the 2006 Congressional elections, Dave Patlack raised only about $1K and received 36% of the vote against Ros-Lehtinen. Taddeo raised $1.3 Million in 2008 and only garnered 38% of the vote - in the year of Obama!

There's only so much you can do for someone who is essentially an empty suit and people have gotten to know Annette. Well, sort of.

Yes, Marin's stock may be dropping but I thnk he's still effective. But you can't blame it all on Marin.
