Tomorrow, the UDB Hearings at County Hall: today, the 2006 Moss workshop on the Urban Development Boundary ... by gimleteye

County Comissioner-- now Chairman-- Dennis Moss held a much anticipated "workshop" on the UDB in February 2006. It was a moment in time when the housing boom was cresting. It was the moment when the Growth Machine summoned all its arguments for expanding the UDB and let them loose.

Come to the County Chamber tomorrow morning, at 9:30AM, as a matter of civic responsibility. See how the arguments are waged, now. But for the moment, take in this: "I don't see a lot of empty houses out there."

Did the Miami Herald report the UDB hearing? Seems like it was important.

The answer to that would be, no. Of course not. The paper's ad sections were filled with developers. The executives of the paper were compensated based on profits.

I'll be there! Growth has gotten totally out of hand in Miami and residents are paying the price!

Why aren't the Commissioner's held accountable to the fact that there is no need?

Has that Lowe's debacle gotten defeated by the courts yet? I wonder if the Commission will get us sued by the state. Again.

"...when we build houses people are buying them..." Is this the level of sophistication that we depend upon when decided how many new houses we need? Oh, Christ. No wonder we are screwed.

Lowe's has not been decided yet...even though the Florida Cabinet said no, Lowe's will not give up and their lap dog --the county -- goes on as well paid for with your dime.

the Mayor asked that the Commission stop the litigation against the State on behalf of Lowes. Commissioner Sorenson tried to push a bill that would do that, but the rest of the Commission killed it.

So, yes, the Lowes fight goes on. With the County on the side of Lowes.
