The Bird Lady's Place in the Florida Keys. By Geniusofdespair

I finally visited Laura Quinn's odd bird sanctuary, the Keys Wild Bird Center (at Mile Marker 93) which has been in business since 1991. Injured birds are rescued and nursed back to health, the ones that can't be helped (i.e. missing parts of wings) are kept in cages. Other birds just come to visit, like the ones in my video here, my second IPhone video. Someone forgot to tell these pelicans that dinner was delayed because of daylight savings. Not to steal the bird lady's thunder, I must note that there is a chicken-chasing lady in Key West.

The whole time I was there I thought about the TV Show House. What kind of odd diseases could be picked up at this place? The bird lady wasn't looking too healthy...

GoD, you are not going to get any dread diseases by being around the birds.
Laura Quinn has sacrificed much in her life to take care of these birds that have mostly suffered injuries at the hand of man.
I hope you dropped a donation in the box on your way out-the center has been in real trouble this year with a large drop off in donations .

GEEZ. GET A LIFE. INSTEAD OF GOING TO THE KEYS TO VIDEO A FLOCK OF TOTALLY DUMB PEICANS (BEING ROUTINELY FED OF COURSE) WHY NOT CHECK IN ON SOME OF THE REAL ISSUES STILL PLAGUING THE KEYS?

You appear new to this blog. I write for free 365 days a year so don't insult me. I am entitled to down time and I will share it with all of you whether you like it or not. I happen to like a bunch of pelicans. You have a choice to get off my blog and go read elsewhere.

Hey, I love this place. The last time I was there a pelican walked around with me like I was his best friend. Trying to help creatures in need can't be a bad impulse.
