Watch out Africa, Here Comes Miami-Dade, Yet Again! By Geniusofdespair

Thirteen people left for a weekend trip to Dakar on Friday from Miami Dade County including County Commissioner Audrey Edmonson. The trip is organized by Vile Natacha's Seijas' favorite group (that should have been axed with budget cuts) The Jay Malina International Trade Consortium. The Consortium has been to South Africa before, so why Africa again? I guess Audrey needs a vacation: they are stopping in Senegal, Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Vile Natacha is the Chair of this Consortium Group, which is a Godawful waste of money. The Executive Director Jose A Ojeda, Jr. made $158,809.00 in 2008 and here are the 2008 salaries of the rest of the staff according to the Herald's Data Sleuth:

Here is the Consortium's Mission: "The vision of the ITC is to promote and strengthen Miami-Dade County as an international trade and cultural center."

Think of what we could have saved without this group, just salaries of almost a million, not counting anything else (like their self-serving glossy, color newsletter):

Maybe they can take a side trip to the Serengetti too. They can say it's to look at prospective animals for Metro Zoo. Or, they may need to take a cruise to Alaska to study Whales or something next.

Oops, maybe I shouldn't be giving them ideas. Though they seem to know how to live high on our Dime. When I grow up, I want to be a public servant in Miami Dade. It's the best gig in town - all while our property taxes skyrocket along with our insurance rates.

Fine job BCC. My only hope is in the next electorate when your friends bus in people to the polls they vote for whoever is running against you.

Barf, again. I get nauseous every time I see vile Natacha's name in print. What country would ever think of doing business with this county when they see old, fat ugly Natacha waddle in with her saggy jowls flapping around? How much business have they actually attracted for the county? I must have missed the success stories because I don't recall seeing any.

Is the director Ojeda related to the other Ojeda who was an assistant county manager for quite a while? I would wager yes. Maybe someday Natacha's daughter will be the director after she tires of her highly paid airport job?

I wonder what all those Special Project Administrators and Admin Officers listed actually do to earn those big bucks? Surf the net all day, if they even show up for work? Who inflated the job responsibilities to require Admin Officers 2 and 3 when lower paid Admin Officer 1's would be more appropriate?

It is long overdue to start electing commissioners who pledge to seriously reduce the size, cost and waste of our county government.

The ITC director goes by the name of "Tony" Ojeda. He is a former assistant county manager who retired from the county several years ago. He has since returned to the county in this new job and makes his very large salary in addition to his very large pension. County Attorney Robert Cuevas did the same thing.

Thanks Michelle!

Tony was working for the county in Penelas' office in 2000. He left sometime in the latter part of the second term.

Hmmm... wonder which bags Ojeda carried for Penelas and Seijas way back then?

Why couldn't they go to Canada or something? Are you going to blog on what this costs?

Tony Ojeda jumped from an Assistant County Manager position in 1998 to become Penelas' Director of the Mayor's Office of Protocol, International Trade and Commerce. Late in his second term, Penelas spun off ITC as a separate department for Ojeda, probably to conceal the true budget of the Mayor's Office and to hide Penelas' political cronies from the next mayor. Ojeda retired from his ITC position in 2004 with a six-figure pension and huge retirement leave payouts, only to be mysteriously rehired by Burgess just over a year later to do the exact same job.

Ojeda's official county bio can be found here.

Is Ojeda the guy with the squirrel on his head?
