Steve Shiver In North Carolina. By Geniusofdespair

Do you miss the former County Manager Shiver? See Steve Shiver on the video begging for money for his theme park! He said he is facing death threats. Could North Carolina be more dangerous for him than Miami?

The secret donor was Katy Sorenson.

He looks like a little boy, did he find the fountain of youth?

A last minute, secret investor? As the aldermen are about to vote Steve down? Come on. Is that a joke? Let's see about this script: I'm "secret investor". I tell Steve Shiver that if it looks like the aldermen are going to fold their hand, I will come in and rescue you. Give me a break! You can't believe ANYTHING this guy says. And season ticket sales are up 140 percent? Wonder who's auditing that claim. Let me tell you what is 100 percent: when Steve runs out of operating cash, he's coming back for a second whack at the aldermen. And maybe he'll have pigeons flying out of his top hat.

It's less than a week from opening day, but Ghost Town in the Sky's main attraction is still sitting idle.

A last-minute loan from an anonymous donor bought the park some time, but it might not be enough to get the Cliffhanger Roller Coaster up and running.

Papa Shiver no doubt or...a Losner??

Wasn't Shiver who said "There is a sucker born every minute".

I hope Carl Hiassen reads this blog! This is priceless beyond any writing skills I could use to tell this story because it's real, non fiction. That meeting could have been at South Dade Government Center, just switch the groups around. Death threats? 140% increase saves vs what? A lady is going to have to go on welfare if the park closes? Can anyone back up with actual facts of anything that was said?

OMG, Stackhouse does need to be added somewere in the mix. Can we take a poll on the secret donor - daddy Shiver, Losner or Eppling? My money is on whoever the biggest investor was to begin with.

The Asheville Times: "Just when it appeared obvious the 43-year-old president and CEO of Ghost Town in the Sky was not going to receive the $200,000 short-term loan he requested from the town of Maggie Valley, an anonymous investor came forward and offered to provide the money.

“It was a wonderful birthday present,” Shiver said. “I was overwhelmed but extremely humbled.”

That's not what happened. They tried to get money from the town and when that didn't work they went to Plan B. Birthday present my ass. Wouldn't you like to know what was in the covenant that came along with that fresh money? I'm guessing it includes a poison pill against future investors who would be coming in after Ghost Town craters. Just wait and see.

We are taking a collection to keep him in Maggie Valley. Any investors willing to start the fund?

I'll chip in. I'd like to have someone up there to play golf with when I'm there.

Secret investors? Hmm. What about the secret petition being circulated by an Alderman of Maggie Valley who also happens to be a Ghost Town Board Member? Isn't that a conflict of interest in the classical definition?

Perhaps someone should notify the DA's office in Raliegh concerning these matters.
